2. I really don't see how Edwards can turn this around
He can't win "Georgia and Ohio" next Tuesday and still have a chance of winning the nomination. He has to beat Kerry and beat him by a large margin, but that's highly unlikely to happen. I think he should have spent more time in these states to try and win one, then he'd at least have some momentum going into next week. Dean better endorse him between now and Tuesday or he's through.

3. A number of sources have already reported
that for Edwards to win, he would have to start pulling 60 percent of all of the remaining delegates after Wisconsin. Tonights results should give an indication of how much of a bounce Edwards received from his close second in Wisconsin.

Many pundits are calling Georgia Edwards last stand, as he must win Georgia in order for his mesage to be validated enough to carry further, but most polls and pollsters place Kerry with a significant lead over Edwards in Georgia, and Edwards supporters in that state beleive that a Kerry win will simply be the result of his massive momentum, and not necessarily that he resonates as well as Edwards does in the deep south. Tonight will be a good model for what is likely to happen next tuesday.

4. He can't win the nomination if he only wins Georgie
He has to defeat Kerry badly next week, and that doesn't seem likely at all. Kerry's pretty much the nominee come next week.

6. The only thing stopping Edwards from the nom...
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 11:49 PM by AP
...is whether people get to know him.

If people don't get to know him, he wont' get the nomination.

If people get to know him, he's going to beat Kerry.

I wouldn't get excited about Kerry winning 80:20 in a state with about 20 delebates and a turnout of less than 5000 people.

I'd just pray that not enough people hear about who Edwards is and the differences between these candidates before March 9.

5. "Where GOP-ers can vote, Edwards has a chance" - hardball coment
Finally acknowledged Edwards' base as proved bt this WI exit poll:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/primaries/pages/epolls/WI/index.html

Voters who are satisfied with the Bush Administration:
52% Edwards, 23% Kerry

Voters who are enthusiastic about * Administration:
33% Edwards, 10% Kerry

Conservatives voted Edwards, pro-Iraq voted Edwards

Those who are looking to beat Bush:
28% Edwards, 59% Kerry.

We know it was the case in TN and SC - where they modified the primary a day before the vote to allow GOP-ers to vote Edwards.

8. Kerry has a home in Idaho
In the Sun Valley area. He was always expected to do well in this state because of that fact. Also the reason why Dean visited the state at least twice, because he thought it might get Idaho into play in caase he needed it.

14. That's a pretty amusing theory
I'm not dissing you, and it may be true, but in my Mountain West state the fact that a rich guy had a second home there would probably be an incentive *not* to vote for him. Just to be contrary. ;)

19. Well Edwards does favor those who throw cheap shots!
Don't forget his long time buddy Shelton! He threw one hell of a cheap shot at Clark. Edwards never did distance himself from Shelton. Guess "Mr. Positive" is okay with other people doing his dirty work for him!

16. Yes. When he got it down to a two man race
and finished third in NV, 4th in DC, 3rd in MI, etc. He really showed us Clark supporters his juggernaut!

20. Chuckle
Edwards did NOTHING to Clark. They both died at the same time, as a result of Kerry's not entirely issue-based momentum, but Clark had the good sense to realize it.
