Caucus Report from Hawaii :-)
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 02:33 AM by La_Serpiente
So I went to my caucus tonight in Hawaii. There were probably 150-200 people there for my district & one could also switch their party affiliation at the door. It was the main voting site for 5 different precints in the district.

There were speeches prior to the start of the caucus. Two people spoke for Kucinich, two for Kerry, and one for Edwards. The Kucinich people had the best speeches and a fireman spoke for Kerry.

Voting started at 7 PM and finished at around 7:30. I waited around a little while to see who won our precinct. It was Kucinich by a thin margin.

9 votes for Kucinich
8 votes for Kerry
4 votes for Edwards

That is only for our precinct now, not the entire caucus. We didn't get the full results, but I found out the results for some other precincts in our caucus.

Precinct 1 (they were a large precinct)

27 for Kerry
23 for Kucinich
3rd place for Edwards (don't know the numbers, but I know he did come in 3rd)

Precinct 2

Don't have the final numbers, but Kucinich won 2 to 1 over Kerry.

Precincts 3 & 4:  No clue

They told us the results for the entire state will be reported between midnight and one o'clock Hawaii time.

OK, so that is my report. Have a great night

Edit: Changing numbers

4. Somehow, it strikes me as appropriate that Kucinich wins Hawaii.
I think he has run a great campaign and he has promoted strong ideas for our Party. I'd like to see him win if only to prove the talking heads wrong about his relevancy in this campaign.

5. 90% Reporting: JK 46; DK 30; JE 13
Looks like Kucinich will be getting a couple more delegates which he completely deserves. :)

6. Aloha!
I have to wonder about Kerry if he cancelled a trip to Hawaii. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

If I had been runniing, I would have targeted the state and been "working hard" there while the others butted heads in Iowa and NH in January.

Maybe I wouldn't win, but my tan would beat theirs, hands down!

9. LOL
Kerry was going to come to Hawaii until Edwards starting catching up on him.

Kerry, a windsurfer himself, would have loved it here too.

He said that if he gets the nomination, he will most likely go to Hawaii.
