Quinnipiac Poll: Kerry holds big lead in New York

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Sen. John Kerry maintains a huge lead over Sen. John Edwards among New York Democrats with a week to go until the state's crucial "Super Tuesday" primary, a statewide poll reported Wednesday.

The poll, from the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, found Kerry leading Edwards, 60 percent to 21 percent, among likely voters in New York's March 2 Democratic presidential primary.

The two senators _ Kerry is from Massachusetts and Edwards is from North Carolina _ are facing a "Super Tuesday" showdown in New York and nine other states.

In the poll, New York's own Al Sharpton was at 9 percent and Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio was at 2 percent among New York Democrats.
