Support for Edwards wanes heading into Super Tuesday |
|
With John Kerry winning easily (by roughly twenty percentage points) in Idaho, Utah and Hawaii, John Edwards now lacks some badly needed momentum as we head into Super Tuesday.
Edward's last great hope is Super Tuesday. No telling what may have transpired, had he spent some time in these strategic states.
Utah, Idaho and Hawaii being strategic, you may wonder? Absolutely.
For Edwards and his supporters, it was critical to go into Super Tuesday with at least the perception of momentum.
That golden opportunity has come and gone.
The number of combined delegates was a moot point. Had Edwards campaigned in these three states and done well in those primaries and caucus, he may have mounted a decent challenge to Kerry on Super Tuesday.
Now, it is all over for Edwards but the crying.

2. If Kerry had won with 80% like Clinton was at this point, maybe. |
|
And if Edwards weren't consistently closing the gap in states in which he's campaigning, I'd say maybe.
But, honestly, folks, don't count your chickens.
