Contesting SC is foolishness. |
|
She is going to lose NH by a larger margin. She apparently is going to win NV because of the Cullinary workers endorsing Obama. Fundraising is drying up...staff is looking around for new gigs, No momentume and she is going to go negative.
Ok fine. She shust solidifies the percetption of beinging the entrenched establshmnet candidate fighting the next generation.
But here is the thing.
She will be perceived by the AA community of standing in the path of something far greater than "40 acres and a mule"; She will be seen as blocking the fulfillment of the I have a Dream speech. AAs in South Carolina, the state that gave birth to the confederacy is positioned to ratify the ascendancy of the first black nominee for the presidency.
She goes negative in South Carolina, and the black community will rise up against her across the country. Watch. Tthe Genereal election without them.

1. She is worsening the bind |
|
already by running as if our voters were republicans. Weird, and contradictory. Some of that she could help, but the real flaws are coming through the pressure put on the concrete past negatives. Strengths too, but that will do little good. I'd say it is an impossible situation and give her some sympathy after she loses, not lectures. She is paying the price for everything, some of it fair, some not.

........ far greater than "40 acres and a mule"
What nonsense ! So a black running for President is untouchable, like affirmative action, and white candidates should refrain from criticizing?
I hope I misunderstood you.

4. The AA community? Most of the people I see at his rallies are white. |
|
These posts are starting to offend me, as not only a woman, but as a black woman.
Obama doesn't represent me any better because his skin color is closer to mine. We, blacks aren't sheep, and won't vote for someone just because they are black.

|
3% black. Come to NYC and see what's happening. Every black friend and co-worker is aware of Obama and is going to vote for him. They've never been involved before. They've donated already this year.

6. Didn't get the memo? We're all one community... |
|
that mythical "black community" that you always hear about in the news with one monolithic opinion on everything with few spokespersons (I missed the community meeting when we picked 'em) that can articulate what we all think.

11. I told my mother today that almost word for word! |
|
My version was "Are the press so unsophisticated to think that women will vote for Hillary Clinton because she is a woman or Senator Obama being black automatically guarantees him the African-American vote? I find that a bit sexist and racist, Ma."
She laughed.

Thank you for saying that goldcanyonaz. And as a white guy, my voting for someone other than Obama doesn't make me a racist, either.

9. Oh the name calling by obama folks begin about 10days to 2 |
|
weeks ago, and I too was called a racist. Truth be known it is the obama campaign that is playing the race card and uninformed folks cannot detect it, but it has been played, and SOME of the obama folks perceive themselves as morally superior because of? Uh huh Not obama the man, but obama the black man or obama the african american.....I support hrc not because she is a woman, but becasue she is more knowledgeable of world events, and more experienced and has the aptitude to do this job.
I could give a chit whether he is black, brown, red yellow, black or white, I do not support obama because to me he is short on experience. Short on knowledge and does not have the aptitude for this position.
Hey it's possible Obama could win and be a good president, but right now he's a question mark with a laid-back style and a wideass smile. I wish Obama could do something to signal that he can slay the Slime Dragon. He's wrong if he thinks the GOP and the RNC will play fair.
The Christian Bible says, "To everything, there is a season."Is this the season for a question mark with a laid-back style and a wide ass smile?

|
Ignore black and there is now ay to win.
SHe had to run a positive message campaign and let the voters decide. I have no problem with her stating in...I just think going negative is terrible in the longrun for the Nominee whoever it is.

she seems to be put into a loose/loose box. Is comparing records going negative? Is a candidate saying they will do a better job, going negative? I'd like to know where you think the line is..

18. I don't think she can go personally negative on Obama |
|
She can't attack his character...she can attack his message of hope. The AA community in SC would be livid and it would ripple through mega Tuesday just a week later.
Their gambit can onbly be to pick up 1/2 of Super Tuesday and force a brokjered convention. The problem is that she andbill will look like they denied Obama the nod, should they win...and that would decimate her support among blacks in the GE, No Black support and the Republicans will win,

|
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:42 AM by vee
Just as we (and most others) have done in past elections, best candidate gets the vote. I am Black, I consider Obama to be the best candidate, he gets my vote.
Should I NOT vote for him to avoid the appearance of racism?
