If I violated the DU rules with my Obama threads, I publicly apologize for that. |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 01:10 AM by Katzenkavalier
But I won't apologize for trying to answer the constant "What are Obama's plans apart of Hope?" questions that a bunch of "concerned" supporters of other candidates were throwing out.
Again, if I somehow violated the rules, I apologize. DU is my home and I wouldn't do anything to harm it.

and this is not copyrighted material.....
The author wants it out there.
So I believe that you are fine.
Especially in light, I would think, of the asinine questions about "duh...what's hope..doh!"

It's always good to hear "concern" from elder statesmen such as yourself.

Do you see any diffference between a plan and the reality of the execution of a policy?
While you cogitate on that one, look at what Obama says he is going to do, and tell me if you find that it matches his established record in the State and Senate.
Have you ever heard a candidate make a promise he didn't keep?
Do you not see your "faith" is totally built on "hope" and "change", not REALITY.

and just relax and let the next few days play out. Let the supporters of the other candidates vent their frustration. If I were you rather than be so defensive I would be thinking of what I was going to do to sooth some very disappointed people to join my team. I just wish it was the problem Edwards was facing. But I appreciate your apology.

|
for him since all the other candidates also have attracted former Republicans, and I was promised a reply after you got done issuing "specifics".
I'm ready to turn in for the night, but before I do take a couple of minutes and just specifically tell me what Obama represents so much that you changed affiliation, why not to one of the other candidates?

Very quickly, I considered myself Republican since I was a kid back in Puerto Rico, where the Republican Party is seen as the friend of those who want Puerto Rican statehood, as I have always done. When I moved here to the states back in '01, I was 17 and eager to join the party I had heard so many good things about, apart that I was always told the GOP was the party of "true Americans" while the Democratic Party was the party of "people who live on Welfare and minorities".
To make the story short, I voted for Jeb in '02, campaigned and voted for Bush in '04, even though I quickly realized that party wasn't for me. I still resisted my own desire to leave because I didn't want to be labeled "less American" or be a traitor to my pro-Statehood ideals. In 06, however, I left the Republican Party and changed to Democrat, and I have been once since.
How Obama got my support? Tell you tomorrow.

A handful of people think it's cute to continually demand that others do the homework, then regurgitate for them the "substantive" summary of information they want (which will never be "specific" enough to satisfy them).
People who don't like particular threads are free to hide them with a click.
People who don't like particular posters are free to partially or completely ignore them with a couple of clicks.
Instead of bitching at you, they should be taking some responsibility for themselves.
WE appreciate you, Katz! :pals:

30. Obama: The John Kerry of 2008 . I have my suspicions about |
|
the sudden popularity of this fresh, young face -- good chance that this is being manipulated and inflated. It is an old strategy to elevate the man you know you can beat and brainwash the sheep into rejecting the one they can't beat. In spite of the uninterrupted 7 year disaster since the Bush seizure of the Presidency, no one, least of all the party leadership and the base (the "But I Have to Have My Pony!" funsters) -- has learned a thing. They are refusing to win yet again.
The media, pink-tutus and Pony Whiners have decided that this placid, pleasant, untroubled man with the intensity of Bing Crosby is going to carry the ticket for the Democrats and miraculously defeat the determined, warlike Republicans. This light-weight is going to be eaten alive.
The best we Americans can hope for at this point is that the Republican who will be elected will not be as evil as Monkeyboy and Unka Dick. Perhaps he will simply be incompetent -- what a relief that will be."laurie"

|
This movement has been growing over the past year, maybe because he didn't get that much coverage you weren't aware of it, but I've been an Obama fan for over 6 months now.
Obviously, some people are choosing to just now look into the politicians and Obamas much deserved momentum he gained is causing a lot more people to be converted simply because more people are turning out.
He's still got the same message he always had, unlike Hillary.
