3. I always liked Clark as a person. This isn't about Clark.

I have this picture in my sig line as a response to some of the really nasty attacks on Edwards in the last two or three days. I need the personal reminder that Clark is no longer in the race, because, judging from the directions from which the attacks are coming, I got confused and thought he was still in the race.

Also, it gives me an opportunity to remind people of how -- I believe -- fair I've been with Clark. See post 55 of this thread:

The sorts of things people have been attacking Edwards over are exactly the sorts of things I defended Clark on in the past.

for christ's sake, can't people do something better than this? I have asked people on both sides of this to knock it off with the pics of edwards and clark because i think it debases all of us.

apparently, nobody else thinks this is a problem--a sort of "if they do it, we will too" ethos--and i'm really sorry to see it. I've never put people on ignore before because i try to have discussions instead of pissing contests here, but maybe it's now time.

I said that this seems like an important discussion to have considering the direction from which some of the nastiest criticisms of Edwards have been coming.

It's sort of like a quesiton mark. "I thought Clark was out?" Why such a drive to criticize Edwards irrationally from his camp's direction? Like I noted, I didn't do that to Clark. Look at those posts defending him. And my assessment of his campaign wasn't a personal attack of him (which is in the fourth link I provide at the aforementioned post 55) -- unlike the attacks on Edwards.

I think it's perfectly fair to note this. And if the conversation has to come by way of a picture in my sig line, so be it.
