1. The New Hampshire model
Independents can choose a ballot for either party. If your a Repub and you want to vote for a Dem you can write it in (or vice-versa).

NH voters have a strong tradition of write-ins too.

2. Tough call....
....the thought that Pukes voting in this primary season because they know Kerry can't beat Junior makes me :puke:.

But I did vote for McCain in 2000, just to vote aginst Junior. So that would make me a hypocrite if I voted for a closed primary. Which is exactly what both parties here in Washington are trying to force on us, after having the wide open "blanket" model for years. (This year the primary was basically cancelled altogether in favor of the caucus system.)
