|
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 11:39 AM by JohnLocke
If you cannot vote because your state's primary has already been held, or you are unable to vote due to age, felony conviction, mental incapacity, or status as a non-citizen, please vote for the candidate of your choice anyway! :)

I find these interesting to create, though not scientific by any standards. It is also interesting that Edwards's support comes out at night, while Kucinch and Dean's support comes out mainly in the afternoon.

I have been trying to figure out how this figures. I just looked and guessed that Edwards folks are not here at the moment. I don't know how much this all means in the long run but it is fun to watch and guess about our own little community.

10. Notice also that Kucinich's support is about 200 times on DU... |

...than in "real-life." That's probably because Kucinich supporters are more likely to actively participate in forums. Notice also that Gephardt and Lieberman's support on Du was disproportionately smaller than "real-life."
Edit: Spelling.

surprised that Gep didn't have more support here, I didn't expect a lot but there really were not too many. A couple of Lieberman folks who probably did not feel too welcome. Could you clarify? What is a Cinch supporter?

13. Stupid spell checker! |
|
The spell checker accidental changed "Kucinich" to "Cinch." Sorry about that.
Anyway, I know exactly one former Lieberman supporter on DU (besides the mass influx of fake Lieberman disruptors a while back) -- Hershel, a great guy.

It is because of the media blackout. Internet users and DU participants have access to much more information than the voting public. The voting public at large must rely on corporate media for their information on primary candidates. This was seen when Dean exploded into the lead. He got many many times the national exposure of DK and others which translated into higher poll numbers. It worked the same way when the media started dissing Dean. Now the media is propping up what they want you to believe are the only TWO 'major' candidates. Even despite the fact that Kucinich has beaten Edwards 3 times and got 30% in Hawaii. The corporate media's almost 100% blackout of Kucincich and more specifically any of his positions on the issues, is almost entirely responsible for the current results. What enables Kucinich to get support and results like 30% in Hawaii is that fact that he has the best positions on about 99% of the issues. Positions that resonate with the bottom 95% of this country. When his message does get out, people support him.
That is why on DU he has so much support, because DUers are more apt to get information from alternative sources and are not spoonfed misinformation by newspapers, radio, and local and national 'news'.
Just my two cents.

15. Yes, you are correct about that. |

I was stunned when reading another thread that there are professionals in Ohio who did not know who he was. I am not sure in that case it reflects the media blackout, it seems impossible to me not to know who he is in that state. For other states I do agree.

Thanks for putting it in words. Many here know this, and saw it coming.
Dennis should get a medal for Valor. He is fighting the good fight
When Nov has passed everybody with some sense should figure out, get together, make plans and just do what ever can be done to turn the whole Juggernaut on it's head.
Win, lose or draw, it is going to be necessary, this stuff has to end

I voted Edwards, and I plan to do so on Super Tuesday. I do not think he will beat Kerry, but come November I think he has a better chance against Bush. Plus, I would love to see Edwards dismantle Bush in a live debate.
