Welcome to DU. There are many cable junkies here that actually believe these pay channels have great influence. All 3 "news channels" only have about 3 million in primetime on a realy good night. In contrast, the broadcast networks average about 18 million combined.

19. "Born in the USA" lyrics: |
|
Born down in a dead man's town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground You end up like a dog that's been beat too much Till you spend half your life just covering up
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A.
Got in a little hometown jam So they put a rifle in my hand Sent me off to a foreign land To go and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A.
Come back home to the refinery Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me" Went down to see my V.A. man He said "Son, don't you understand"
I had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong They're still there, he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in the shadow of the penitentiary Out by the gas fires of the refinery I'm ten years burning down the road Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A. --------------------
Yeah! Go AWOL!

It's time for Bruce to pen a new song. How about "Born in Mexico, came to the USA to take jobs from Americans"? Thank you Bush for more red meat for the nominee's campaign! Out of work racists everywhere will apreciate it.

11. saw that too and thought |
|
"What's this crap?" What's with this pro-bush propaganda that reminds you of something you'd see on state-run Soviet tv. And it's all him playing dress-up in one form or another, strutting around and pretending to chop trees and putting on his white cowboy hat (which, I'm sorry, always reminds me of the cops escorting Lee Harvey Oswald out of the Dallas Police Station). It was hideous.

It seemed like HOURS of David Dreirer just going on and ON about how wonderful Arnold and Bush are. He was saying the most ridiculous things, and Tweety just sat there, like a jerk, either agreeing with him or not bothering to point out the truth. I am waiting for Kerrey to talk about this 9-11 commission. Watch him switch into "hardball" mode now, and interrupt him 18,000 times.

34. I prefer Rush Limbaugh to Chris Matthews |
|
At least Rush doesn't hide who he supports. Matthews is only concerned with being on the right side of the power structure. He summarily dismissed Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean, and Wesley Clark. He cares nothing about the democratic process. Every now and then he'll throw a bone to the left but it's all facade. He seduces progressives into thinking that he hasn't gone completely to the dark side, which is more dangerous than Limbaugh, Hannity, and Scarborough put together. But he's even worse, as he has no loyalty other than to himself.

I could be wrong. I went to a Bruce concert in Philly this summer, and he made some anti-war comments. My repuke brother-in-law and his wife just sat there stone faced, upset that their hero said something negative about Dubya. I jumped to my feet and applauded loudly.

That is what happens when they try to use music to make someone look cool and don't look into the lyrics. Unless it was meant to be Ironic.
