What bugs me about the Nevada caucus: Harry Reid's control over all of it
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 05:43 PM by ursi
Because of Harry Reid and Tom Collins (former State Party Chair) Nevada looked like major idiots for wanting to host a Faux News debate. When that crap job came down nationally it put mud on Nevadans.

Harry Reid pushed for us to become a caucus state. Harry Reid pushed for the "at-large" precincts on the LV strip so it wouldn't look like we were disenfranchising casino workers atatewide. Remember, the casino workers in Tahoe/Reno/Mesquite/West Wendover/Jackpot, etc. can't just up and leave their jobs on Saturday to attend the caucuses in their "neighborhoods" either.

And neither can the 1000s of mining workers who work 12 hours shifts in the gold mines in Nevada. They are totally screwed even if they are home during the day and work that night. They have to get some sleep!

Because we gave up our primary, we screwed Independents and others in this state. I don't care if you think they have no right but some people register Independent to take a stand against the two major parties and the dirt they do.

AND ONE LAST THING! MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER IS A TEACHER AND HE HAD NO IDEA THIS LAWSUIT WAS GOING TO BE FILED AND TEACHERS DON'T WORK ON SATURDAYS!!!!

This lawsuit is complete stalling bs! All people involved in this could have filed suit months ago. Hillary's camp was fine with our caucus arrangements until Wednesday when Obama got the Culinary Union vote.

I wish Harry Reid would send a message to Nevada Democrats to stop this imploding and get back to nominating a presidential candidate.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I want my party back but it is so tricky in Nevada with Las Vegas being the epicenter to all things and the Reid family being there along with all of their insider cronies. I live in Reno. This is all just so wrong.

1. Indies and Repubs can switch on caucus day
Just wanted to add that info.

And yes the whole thing is party politics from top to bottom, but to set the whole thing up and then knock it down when it doesn't go your way, that's just bullshit.

2. I want more people to have a say ...not a system that alienates people
so party insiders have more control.
