Dennis should issue a press release and get on TV (somehow) to publically thank the troops. In fact, he can then mention that now that Bin Laden has been caught, it's a great time to bring the troops home in 90 days. He should also propose a raise for all enlisted service members, just to remind everyone whose side we're on.

10. I think you underestimate millions of your fellow Americans

People DO still care about Osama bin Laden. There is still, I think, significant outrage that he has not been brought to justice. Many, many, people will rejoice when/if he is captured.

That's why we need to begin speaking now and frequently, with great cynicism, about an "October surprise." The more widespread cynicism we can spread about it, the less people will believe that it's a "this just in!" kind of thing if it happens.

Ask if he is in custody. Ask why, if all it took was cooperation between US forces on the ground in Afghanistan and the Pakistan army, whythehell couldn't we have done that starting 9/12/01? Instead of trashing two countries.

Ask why we had so few troops hunting down Bin Laden and so many hunting down Saddam Hussein, a man who the CIA and even the Bush Adminstration now admit posed no significant threat to the United States or even any of Iraq's neighbors.

It's a good idea to start emphasizing this timing issue to all of your friends, because I fully suspect this October Surprise is in the works.
