1. It's been done before.
Kennedy/LBJ.

And Dole and Kemp were Senator and Representative, respectively, which is similar.

3. Edwards decided to run for Prez and couldn't retain his Senate seat....
....so his re-election to the Senate isn't an option now.

but we shouldn't have seats like Landriu or Nelson go away so they should be less considered

4. There is so much disappointment among Democrats regarding
the behavior of the Senate in the past few years, especially on several key landmark votes in the last 3 years (even in the period Dems actually had a *bare* majority), that I think putting TWO of those senators on the same ticket would be risky.
