Outside View: Kerry embodies new left

WASHINGTON, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has smooth answers for the problems of healthcare, the economy and just about every issue on the minds of voters. Yet he has been afflicted by a complete loss of words concerning a stunning event about which many Americans can't stop talking.

What is striking, and some say telling, is his silence about this year's raunchy Super Bowl halftime show.

Thousand of families in Kerry's home state had tuned in to watch their home team, the New England Patriots, compete for the professional football championship against the formidable Carolina Panthers, only to be embarrassed during the MTV-produced halftime show when pop singer Justin Timberlake ripped away a piece of singer Janet Jackson's costume to reveal her partially obscured breast. Hundreds of thousands of angry letters have been sent to MTV and CBS, the network that broadcast the show. The Federal Communications Commission is investigating the matter. Yet Kerry's campaign has made no statement on what the senator thinks about the incident.

Kerry is part of a Democratic field that has been virtually silent about the halftime spectacle. His refusal to speak out against the event is not playing well in either the swing states or the "red" states that voted for George W. Bush in 2000. With the country divided politically and culturally, some on the right are calling the 2004 election the "'60's last stand," featuring John Kerry (in the role of Gen. George Custer) leading the blue troops, and George W. Bush (as Sitting Bull) leading the red troops.

more...This stuff really kills me from these wingnut publications. Don't talk about people out of jobs, people with no medical insurance, the record national debt that Bush has run up, or how many soldiers Bush has ordered to their deaths so we can have an Ayatollah Of Iraq tell us to go fuck ourselves in a couple of years. Hell no! This idiot would rather worry about what John Kerry thinks of Janet Jackson's bare tit. What the fuck is the matter with people like this. And why do some people fall for it?

1. His Silence On American Idol Speaks Volumes
What does he think about the whole Tamyra scandal? Did he really think that tone-deaf floozy could really get more votes?

If he doesn't say something about this type of voter fraud, how can we trust him with the real thing?

3. Why won't Kerry address the issue of animal cruelty
on the Simpson's. In a recent episode, several of Lisa's cats were killed.

Doesn't anyone care about animal cruelty?

4. At first I thought this was a joke
One of those ironic, tongue in cheek things which would list every awful thing that Bushco has done to this country and point out that Kerry is more or less on the right side of each of them, only to founder on the rock of Boobgate... but it never gets to a punchline.

It's a breast, dammit! If you've never seen one... maybe that's YOUR problem.

This kind of tripe should give us a hint of what kind of demented minds we are up against.

6. I want to know why Kerry has not addressed me personally
I work on a GYN unit in a hospital. I get paid to look at breast not to mention other things. I am sure there is some law somewhere that says me, the married male, can not look at nekkid parts of married females. I want to know why Kerry has not made that a part of his stump speech. I am sure I am a threat to the sanctity of marriage somehow. Because I teach the patients things I am one of Rod Paige's terrorist I guess. Add to my RN license a B.S. in math and I am a WMD program. Because I am employed I am a minority in this country, so I should be an easy target for the government. How come I am not paid attention to? I am really pissed that Kerry has not stopped at my house to sit down and personally talked about my issues with me for 3 to 4 hours. I already know that I am on some "no fly list" at the airport, so Bush is paying attention to me, where are the Dems? If the Democrats would just have some of that passionate conservatism like Bush, Dick and Colon have ( there is a joke in there somewhere )this country would be better off don't you think?

7. He could at least address the question of whether her nipple
jewelry was "made in America" or not.

Clearly, the breast was but was that little starburst thing put together in a Ceylon sweat shop or what?

I think an in-depth investigation of Janet Jackson's breasts (as Woody Allen points out, they usually travel in pairs) is long overdue. I would volunteer for the committee but my wife just got herself a new bat, and I don't mean one like Dean used to use, I mean one like Reggie Jackson used to use.

8. yeah yeah
I think it's outragous and Kerry's silence is "very telling" (sorry Slinkerwink :) ) .

And Bush's answer was something like :
I was asleep in that very moment..with guests uh huh.

That of course is ok.

Did Kerry comment on that 55 hour Britney marriage ?
What's his stance on 55 hour marriages? Can someone make a poll how many are outraged with Kerry's stance on that one ?

13. Janet's breast is not registered to vote.
:eyes:

In any case, I hate that the incident is entirely blamed on Janet Jackson. She did not rip off her own top. The idea that she is entirely to blame is almost as offensive as the concept that ripping a woman's clothes off against her will is supposed to be entertaining.
