NYT and the Hillary camp are full of shit
Delegates absolutely were selected today. I filled out the paperwork for them. They go forward from here to the county conventions and then on to the state conventions. In order for Hillary to get the most national delegates out of nevada. Obama delegates will have to switch to her. That may or may not happen but as of right now Hillary lost the delegate race in Nevada.

25. How did people take the law suit
the ad, and all the rest. Did anybody even care about the underhanded tactics, know about them, or were they just voting based on general beliefs.

The NYT is no different from the rest of Corp-CIA-Media except they've got an additional dog in the race being that Hilly is a NY state senator. So I'm not expecting any more credibility in their reporting for this race than the last two.

EDIT: meant to reply to the OP, oops

11. No the county conventions are I believe a month from now
I dont remember the exact date but its not that far off. From there the delegates selected there go to the state convention. Where they vote again and the delegates selected from that vote go on to the national. If Everyone holds their ground Obama walks away from Nevada with more delegates than Hillary.

This must have been a very difficult day for you. We've been hearing reports that the caucus didn't go as smoothly as all had hoped.

I really appreciated you checking in to give us the facts.

23. My pleasure
and it was actually verry fun I had a blast. I was a little disapointed Obama didnt take my precinct but it was close enough for me to walk away happy as I really thought it would go overwhelmingly to her.

Look at the self-contradictory statement from the Hillary camp - -

"Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Caucuses today by winning a majority of the delegates at stake.

The Obama campaign is wrong. Delegates for the national convention will not be determined until April 19."

Wha?

18. In the meantime they're going to make the right promises, get Reid to lean on people...
You know, typical high-brow Clinton politics.

I wouldn't doubt it if they succeed. But hopefully Barack will be so far ahead it won't matter.

30. It probably won't work like that
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 10:00 PM by sandnsea
The election will go on and the delegates will be tallied up until a clear winner emerges. One or the other will bow out and release their delegates to the other. There won't be any brokered convention or pressure on delegates because the nomination will probably be decided before the delegates are even seated.

13. Some pretty nasty threads were going around because of people's ignorance
This is actually payback from Iowa, that inspite of Obama winning Iowa by 9%, He only was ahead by 1 delegate against Hillary because of the "super delegates"

15. Well, you gotta remember that Hillary IS the Party
What her highness wants, her highness gets.

So the bullcrap "delay" may not be accurate, she probably wont gain any more delegates, but just getting the Party to claim theres a "delay" allows her campaign to act like she won everything in NV heading into SC.

Trying to negate any perception that Obama won anything is the game right now.

19. Right
Unfortunately going forward from here we get a larger and larger influence from the party establishment here as the delegates get thinned out more and more through the county and state conventions. In reality I think in the end hillary will walk away with the most delegates because she has the establishment here behind her. However if Obamas support is willing to stand strong despite the presure he walks away the winner.

I will stand strong against her. With these tactics she's using it would literally pain me to have to vote for her.

22. There does seem to be widespread ignorance about how caucus states work
For those who don't know, precinct caucusing is just the first step. The next step is at the county or state legislative district level. It may be on to the state convention from there, but in WA there is a Congressional District step intervening. At any level, delegates can switch votes for any number of strategic reasons.

27. I believe no delegates have been chosen as yet
So for now at least Hillary won the vote, and Obama is "projected" to win one more delegate than Hillary.

34. Yes
I believe they have a similar process there. If I remember correctly, Iowa also has super delegates that don't get chosen till later. So in Iowa Hillary is "projected" to have one more delegate currrently with a significant number still to be decided later.

Which BTW, means Obama could end up getting ALL those super delegates when the decision is made later.

I'm not knocking Obama, just prefer to wait till the chicken hatches.
