Orlando Sentinel endorses Clinton
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/orl-ed20208jan20,0,3588862.story?coll=orl_tab01_layout

We give the nod to Sen. Hillary Clinton among the Democratic presidential candidates.

Mrs. Clinton is best known for her eight years as first lady, but her strongest credentials in this race are her record of accomplishment and expertise on important policy matters as a U.S. senator representing New York.

Elected in 2000 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2006, she has been an accessible, hard-working lawmaker who has earned respect on both sides of the aisle. As a member of panels responsible for military, health, education and environmental policy, she has steeped herself in those critical areas.

Mrs. Clinton's closest rival, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, is a highly gifted orator. His appeals to rise above partisanship are welcome and inspiring.

But Mr. Obama has not always taken advantage of opportunities to demonstrate bipartisanship himself, as when he declined to join a group of senators from both parties who defused a conflict over judicial nominations. Last year, the National Journal ranked him the 10th most liberal senator. Mrs. Clinton was ranked 32nd.

Mr. Obama was elected to the Senate in 2004 and still does not have a major legislative achievement to his name. It's not clear from his record that he is ready to lead the Free World.

1. To bad a victory there doesn't help her with any delegates.

4. I bet when HRC wins the nomination by the end of March, I would
think Howard Dean will be forced to give the delegates back to Michigan and Florida before the convention....This will in no way cause any problems for obama since he will have lost with not enough delegates...

9. Oh, I wouldn't bet on that
Howard Dean is an unusually stubborn and principled guy. I found his stubborness frustrating at times during the 11 years that he was guv of my state. I appreciate it in this instance. The more you try to force Dean, the more he'll dig in his heels. Alas, it's not really up to him whether the delegates are seated or not. And if she hasn't won a clear path to the nomination by Feb 6th, she may not have by the end of March. Have you even looked at the post 2/5 states? They play to Obama's strengths- not Madame Entitlement.

6. Ouch. How do they do the
liberal rating? It shows Obama isn't bipartisan because he's liberal?
"Last year, the National Journal ranked him the 10th most liberal senator. Mrs. Clinton was ranked 32nd."

And because he didn't join the Gang of 14?
It's true and he said he couldn't bring himself to help Bush's nominees take the bench even if he understands the views of judicial conservatives.

Maybe it will help her if she reaches the general or if there are pretty conservative Dems there. Just seems...an insulting compliment to use this as in endorsement during a Democratic primary.

The other parts sound good though.

8. Thanks for posting the actual article. If the comments on Obama don't
reveal the Orlando Sentinel for its desire to select a sell-out Democrat for president, I don't know what else will.

I'll start listening to the Orlando Sentinel the day they write a thorough investigative piece on how they poisoned their own city by dumping toxic waste down the sewer or storm water drain; and the day they write a responsible article on the way an entire village was driven to take desperate measures due to intentional poor planning by local good ole boys and corrupt lawyers, and how the latter has been using fear tactics to suppress the truth for a decade.

Healey, the editor, is a long way away from her roots if she thinks that Clinton's priorities is on the radar to fix Florida's growth management problems and environmental abuses.

From Florida's Shame, to Florida's Scam.
