How many people will disappear after the nominee is chosen? |
|
There probably some folks posting here solely to promote their candidate. Whether they are paid operatives or just passionate volunteers, how many of them will suddenly stop posting and never be heard from again once the primaries are over?

1. last go 'round, many were booted because they couldn't follow the rules from that point |
|
Many of those can now be found on other message boards where they trash DU and other DUers like a myspace teen page.

2. About as many as last time, I'm sure |
|
There will be dramatic goodbyes and "I CAN NEVER VOTE FOR THAT PERSON!" threads, I would wager.

9. I actually enjoy the HELL out of GBCW (Good Bye, Cruel World) posts. |
|
Someone ought to collect a few hundred of the most absurd and dramatic, and put them on a website for our cruel amusement.

10. And then keep track of the ones who never actually leave |
|
and the "Oh NO don't GO" replies.

11. Bwahahahaha...the "Oh, no, don't goes" are usually so sincere, too |
|
The poor well-meaning and sympathetic folks don't realize they're being played like a fiddle.
I'm usually in the "Don't let that door hit ya" bunch!

4. Oh, for a moment I thought this was a post about...... |
|
....the GOP's tracking of all the people that were associated with the Clinton's who died mysteriously.
Whew! :)

5. I wonder about that too but I also wonder how many will disappear |

because they feel unwelcome when their candidate is rejected? Others may jump ship as a result of all the nastiness. This is , without a doubt, the nastiest campaign I can remember and I am not a spring chicken.

7. I think there will be some healing when there is no longer a primary to fight about |
|
We will all have to rally around the Dem nominee (whoever it is), to ensure that the repukes don't steal the WH again.

12. We don't really "have" to do anything. Just saying. There is a difference |
|
between "not campaigning against" and "rallying around" or "actively supporting".

13. There is a reason why everyone will stick around |
|
I used to be "in love" metaphorically speaking, with Howard Dean. When John Kerry won I was so mad at everyone including Kerry. But once the attacks from the right began to pile up and Dean was not in the picture, I was drawn to Kerry's defense.
Same with Obama's supporters, Hillary's supporters, or Edwards'. They will need politics, otherwise they will be bored at home sitting in front of the computer doing nothing. They will miss DU and they will certainly have no interest in supporting the Republican. So they will come and join forces with the Democratic nominee.

I think you are right. Some will retreat for a while, but most will come back with a renewed desire to oust the republicans from power.

How many will be banned, for declaring they refuse to vote for the Nominee, and will be voting for Paul/Bloomberg/write-in?
I will happily hand them one of Monkeyfuck's goody bags and bid them a non-fond adieu.

Yes, Edwards is my first choice. And I will be a little down if he doesn't win. But I will put my heart and soul into helping whoever our nominee is. I will not stand for another Repuke in the WH. I will leave the country if that happens. My wife has family in Sweden who will help us to do what it takes to get there.
