MSNBC: Edwards was the "can't we all just get along?" guy - I disagree
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 11:32 PM by oberliner
The "first read" analysis on MSNBC suggests that Obama and Clinton went at it and Edwards stayed out of the fray.

I really don't agree.

He went after Clinton very forcefully regarding lobbyists and made a clear distinction with Obama regarding health care.

I really thought he was very much in the midst of the scuffle.

What did others think?

1. He was in the midst with the intention of bringing the focus...
of the discussion back to the people, not the candidate's personal battles.

9. I agree. He made good distinctions between himself and them
AND let them go at each other. Very smart. :)

12. He did do a good job. If Hillary can't get it I hope Edwards does
Obama's performances, his apparent lack of ability to discuss Iraq, the economy, immigration and other issues in depth and the tone of his followers really trouble me. We don't need another 'Bush'

5. Chuck Todd is an ass

He'd fit in better at Faux or CNN.

14. Issues are the kind of material MSNBC can not relate to.
Edwards was focused and hit all the right notes tonight.

10. Posted a comment...who knows if it will actually show up there...
Here's what I said:

Edwards played mediator?? He was the only one in the debate who came off looking presidential, composed, and stuck to the real issues. Please. Yet another example of him being marginalized. Thanks a bunch Chuck.

Thought I should keep it short and sweet :)

13. I loathe Chuck Todd for shutting Kucinich out of the MSNBC debate, but I think he got it right here.
I don't think he was saying that Edwards wasn't in the fray, but that Edwards could make points like, "How many kids will this sort of squabbling provide health care for?" He got that particular benefit. He certainly wasn't detached, but Obama and Hillary weren't taking shots at him very much either.
