South Carolina CWA Endorses John Edwards
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 01:52 PM by jsamuel
CWA is the Communication Workers of America

Update: Vote was unanimous on the first round of voting.

From an email:
CWA is everywhere, almost literally. There are members in almost every small town and large urban area in the country. They are a very progressive union, and are in almost constant battles with Verizon, ATT, etc.

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Tuesday won the endorsement of one of South Carolina's largest unions as he gave details of an economic plan his campaign said would offer his native state's struggling economy $1.5 billion in relief.

"Our country is no longer on the brink of a recession. I think we're in one," Edwards said during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, a day after a testy debate between the Democratic candidates.

Meanwhile, the state's chapter of the Communications Workers of America gave the former North Carolina senator its support. With one of the nation's lowest unionization rates, the nod is a win for Edwards but one unlikely to seriously alter a primary most hotly contested by New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

The union has more than 2,200 active members and more than 1,700 retired members in South Carolina.

8. Best hope now would be a strong second place finish in SC ---
But even that would give John's campaign some badly needed MO.

I'd love for a huge Edwards surprise in SC - but I'm not holding my breath.

32. Last sentence last paragraph
The union has more than 2,200 active members and more than 1,700 retired members in South Carolina.

Sounds like a large number of people to spread the message of John, if there are still people not paying attention for their best interests.

Important thing is he will stay in the game. One of the annointed has to beat the other, and then John will be in the spotlight. I can't wait to see Wolf's face!

Given what happened with Obama and the Culinary union.
