Barack, if you think you can unite this country, all I gotta say is |
|
GOOD LUCK.
Your going to need plenty of it. You're also going to have to resurrect Houdini back from the dead to give you some assistance because talking about uniting this country and getting it done are two very different things.
Barack, did you happen to watch the highlights of the Republican debate last night? Think about it....
In the Democratic debates, you had the Democrats each claiming they'll pull out the troops the SOONEST.
In the Republican debates, you've got the Repuke candidates all bragging who will prolong the war the LONGEST.
Barack, getting us Democrats to go along with your unity movement will be EASY, but I can't wait to see what's up your sleeve when you try to get those warmongering, right wing, hateful, narrow-minded inbred fucks that comprise the other half of the country to sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya with the rest of us. GOOD LUCK, Barack!

6. Then he should start by doing his best to unite the Democrats |
|
That is obviously the key using your argument. Is Obama showing an ability to pull together democrats or not?

10. The same question could be posed to hillary! |
|
Unfortunately, Bill and Hillary have already been extremely divisive within the Democratic Party during this campaign. Raising the race issue, pooh-poohing Martin Luther King's contributions viz a viz a White Texan President, and pretty much taking this campaign into the gutter....this is no way to unite the party behind Hillary. It is trench warfare, circular firing squad style.
To his credit, obama has not been so divisive. He has responded to Bill and Hillary's Mud Slinging....who wouldn't? But he has in his speeches at least given us some ideals to believe in, to support, to wish for, to hope for....which is in stark contrast to Hillary's campaign based on pragmatism, realpolitik, and the old way of doing things.
I am not at all optimistic about our party's chances in November. I think it has already reached a point where McCain is probably going to be the next president. Especially if Hillary gets the nomination, which i fear she will.

15. The question should be posed to both, yes |
|
I don't see the course of the race the same way you do, but even if I did - this is Obama's greatest vision - to pull people together. He says he can better reach out a hand to Republicans, I do want to see his ability shown with Democrats first. It is his own claimed strength.

3. We need to get as many seats in congress as possible... |
|
so that no matter which Dem takes the WH, they'll have an easier time putting this country back on track.
And if a Dem doesn't take it, they can obstruct the fuck out of the next repuke a-hole who steals it. :)

Most people in the US have certain common goals and want to see progress on the same issues.
He is not depending on the support of the hard-core right wingers, he is hoping to sway some Independents and Republicans who are sick of the repugs to the Democratic platform, and he is also bringing in new voters also.

because of his position on the war from the start, and the countries overwhelming opposition to the war, he's the most attractive candidate to independents. it also helps that he doesn't use inflammatory language such as, "narrow-minded inbred fucks" to describe those who don't immediately identify with the democratic party. only narrow-minded inbred fucks engage in such activity.

controlled Congress?
That's a major problem in this country....MEMORY LOSS! They have VERY short memories and politicians know it.

are all around. For example, I keep hearing that Obama is virtually JFK reincarnated. If you were an adult in the early sixties and were aware of what was going on, you know that the country did not unite behind him. When I read that Caroline Kennedy said he would be a president like her dad, I cringed. He was the first president I voted for, but I knew many people who hated him. And still do.
