pronounce Massachusetts *MassaTUsetts* ???
oh, listen... I'm going to vote for him on Tuesday. I'm no fan of Hillary. I also don't give a crap about the fluffy stuff like their clothes, the hair, the (non)snub, etc. But he's an eloquent man and I don't like him pronouncing my state incorrectly. The first time I heard him do it, I thought, *someone oughta correct him before he does that too many times*. The second time I thought, *hey, he went to Harvard Law school in Massachusetts, doesn't he know he mispronounces it?*... Now I'm just wondering why Teddie doesn't have a little word with him about it.
It's not a deal-breaker for me or anything. And maybe I'm silly to think he'd lose any votes over it.
I don't often hear it pronounced that way and I'm just wondering into the vast DU community>>> how many people around the country say it that way? enlighten me so that I can let it go. please.

12. Good job! Many people don't, including me before I moved west. |
|
Midwest we pronounced it Ore-gone, barely pronouncing the "ah" part. Drove relatives nuts for a couple days, then they told me if I was going to live out here I'd better learn to pronounce it right. Amtrack announcer announced (duh) the special for dinner was fresh sal-mon. Made me wonder if it was safe or not.
I think it's a regional thing, makes me realize how big this country is, all the regional accents. What with people moving around so much it's gotten some mixed up, but still noticeable.

17. Actually, the REALLY correct way to pronounce it is ORYGUN. |
|
Lived there over half my life, and my family still lives there. What really irritates us is when people say ARE-AH-GON. :eyes:

So it's endearing to me, but I'm sure others don't find it so charming.
