How come I knew that the vote for the war was BS and a Senator did not? |
|
I read the reports from the inspectors. I read what Hans Blix said. Why did Hillary not interpret it the same way as I did?
Why did I know better than a US Senator?

but it's easier for us to call bullshit - no consequences for being wrong.
if they called bullshit and it wasn't (which was a remote possibility at the time) that would be the end of their career.

not. That's why I said what I said. If there was an inkling to truth to the false intelligence, and Saddam really did do anything, the blood would have been on the hands who voted against intervention.

19. It is almost always better to vote on the side of caution... |
|
than to vote to blow the shit out of anybody.
But with *'s idiocy and vengeance for the plot on his father, caution would certainly have been the better policy.

11. Under no possible scenario... |
|
would Iraq had been a "smashing success".
That vote just shows that Hillary was either just interested in her career, or is monumentally stupid.

5. I'm starting to think that is THE issue... |
|
The same issue that I always felt undermined Kerry...he was on the record. He voted for the resolution.
Hillary can spin it all day long, but the record stands.
The fact that Barry has been consistent takes that issue away from McCain/Romney, etc.
(they'll just spin him as a cut and run coward..but...hey...the numbers bear us out..the war is a total clusterfuck)

18. Hillary can't use the war against McCain....he will just point out that she is flip flopping |

changing her view now that the political winds have changed on Iraq
Can anyone picture Hillary....if today's public opinion was still in support of the iraq war....speaking out against it? Obama spoke out against it when public opinion supported Iraq....quite the contrast here. And, even though I disagree with his stance, McCain supported Iraq even when unpopular. Hillary's shifting position will be her quick sand. The more she tries to get out, the deeper she sinks.

20. She could argue that she was LIED to for months...during a well orchestrated |
|
campaign by Bush and his entire staff. A campaign of lies that has been documented by independent research. A campaign meant to distort, frighten, and coerce.
Not saying it beats McCain, but I'm saying its a tool she should use if she gets the Nom.

W was going to have his war...
I think some folks - including Baracks's John Kerry - were afraid that their insticts might be wrong and W would make a fool of them.
W made a fool of them all right...

It's only fodder for Green "progressives" who won't vote anyway.

12. Here's what she said... |
|
However, this course is fraught with danger. We and our NATO allies did not depose Mr. Milosevic, who was responsible for more than a quarter of a million people being killed in the 1990s. Instead, by stopping his aggression in Bosnia and Kosovo, and keeping on the tough sanctions, we created the conditions in which his own people threw him out and led to his being in the dock being tried for war crimes as we speak.
If we were to attack Iraq now, alone or with few allies, it would set a precedent that could come back to haunt us. In recent days, Russia has talked of an invasion of Georgia to attack Chechen rebels. India has mentioned the possibility of a pre-emptive strike on Pakistan. And what if China were to perceive a threat from Taiwan?
My vote is not, however, a vote for any new doctrine of pre-emption, or for uni-lateralism, or for the arrogance of American power or purpose -- all of which carry grave dangers for our nation, for the rule of international law and for the peace and security of people throughout the world.
A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort.

17. So many people voted for it, so apparently a lot of people didn't get it. What |
|
I DON'T understand is why she voted against the Levin/Biden resolution.
It was a plan to repeal President Bush's authority to send U.S. troops into Iraq and replace it with a narrower mandate.
I don't understand why ANYBODY would have voted against that.
