At least Edwards was man enough to say he was sorry for his Iraq vote |
I wonder what the Edwards supporters will do now that Hillary refuses to say it was a mistake

3. He'd have had a hell of a time in the general election with that "sorry" |
shit. As it is, it's a non-issue in this campaign except with "progressives" who don't matter anyway.

4. Well, as Pat Buchanan said (wait, hear me out here) ... |
when asked why Hillary won't apologize, he said (paraphrase): because who would want to vote for someone who said, "I'm sorry, I fucked up the most important vote of my career and it caused the worst strategic error the United States has ever committed?"
I've never agreed with Pat Buchanan before, but I do here. But I do not accept Hillary's answer that she didn't know Bush would actually go to war. That was plain insulting. But I can see, politically speaking, why she doesn't apologize. Edwards's apology never meant a damned thing to me: I don't want to vote for someone who has to apologize for all the mistakes they made. As Obama said tonight, you don't just want to be ready on day one, you want to be RIGHT on day one. Not that he will always be right (he admitted that too). But ..... you don't get "do-overs" on an issue as important as taking the nation to war. It was for this reason alone that I excluded Clinton and Edwards as my first choice and decided to stand with Obama. I invested too much energy in opposing this war from 2002 on to simply ignore it now.
