but it's hard to tell what the corporate war machine wants. They might be prepared to function quite well with the properly groomed Democrat if he or she toes the line. The restless little public is kind of crying out for some Democratic soothe in the White House to do a few things to make us all feel a little safer and a little taken care of.

If debate performance were the only factor, then Clinton would be looking better after tonight.

But if debate performance were the only factor, we'd be getting ready to re-elect President John Kerry.
