I think Obama won some points with Latinos tonight
with his defense of immigration and his refusal to accept that it is the cause of the economic woes of the African American community.

5. He also talked in favor of licenses and crumbling schools in east L.A.
I think he made some inroads tonight with Latinos. Remember, he doesn't need to get all of them, just enough to blunt Hillary.

3. Essentially Rachel Maddow's point on MSNBC
Noted Obama's comments that illegal immigrants shouldn't be scapegoated for black (or any other group's) unemployment woes, blame the employers that exploit workers and the Bush economy. She pointed out that Clinton's final comment was that she basically agreed with blacks who blame the immigrants.

Think that could swing some Latino voters to change sides. Think it is less likely that blacks would leave Obama because of Clinton's attempted pandering.

6. Yes, I heard Rachel say that Hillary was doing nothing but driving a wedge
between the 2 communities. She made that point twice...and felt it was something that only an opportunist would do. Someone like a Pat Buchanan. :puke:

4. I really liked that answer
I do think illegal immigration puts pressure on wages, but the problems of immigration cannot be solved if we take an us against them approach, whether it's minority groups or us against foreign workers. We've got to rise together or fall separately, now more than ever.
