Oh no..Bill out there attacking again |
|
This time it was Senator Kennedy. He is attacking him about No Child Left Behind. He started naming names of people who were pushing NCLB and of course he mentions Kennedy. He said Kennedy forgot to ask the teachers what they thought about it. Apparently Clinton was speaking in front of a teacher's union. The thing I did not like was the way he does his mouth when he is about to attack. He kinda shrugs his shoulders or something. I just don't like it. A few days ago he was begging Kennedy not to endorse or to endorse Hillary. Last night he attacks him. All week I have been saying that it seemed like we had the old Bill back (meaning President Bill Clinton that I like) but now the attack dog seems ready to attack again. Guess I should be happy that he did not attack Barack..........

But why can't he attack Kennedy on this? Are you saying that Bill has no right to call it like he sees it?+ It's ok for Obama to have attack dogs out there every day but Bill can't speak up for Hillary and against her opponents?

but he is losing the respect he had regained after weathering the monicagate thing. He had attained a bit of an "elder statesman" aura. Now he's just another political attack dog.
And sure he has a right to do it. Just doesn't make me look up to him.

31. I've defended his excesses for 20 years. No more. |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 10:15 AM by TexasObserver
I defended him before America knew or cared who Bill Clinton was, through his bad speech at the convention in the 80s, through his DLC baptism, through his relationship with Pamela Harriman, through the skirt chasing scandals one after another.
Yes, Teddy was wrong on No Child Left Behind. Badly wrong, and I'll be the first to say so. But it's just bad form to use Bill to trash Teddy before teachers. No Child Left Behind is bad primarily because it's run by the God Awful Republicans from Bush on down. Rod Paige sold his soul to the devil to help Bush perpetrate that fraud. It is wrong, wrong, wrong, for teachers, for administrators and for students. I'm down with attacking the program.
But Bill cannot control himself. He never has been able to do that. I still appreciate all the good things Bill did while president, still resent the 7 year witch hunt they foisted against him. You'd think he'd care more about not trampling his entire legacy in one election year, but he seems bound and determined to do it.
I thought he would be Hillary biggest asset, not her biggest ass hat.

|
Too many DUers freak out over "attacks." When it is a fair policy dispute, it is not an "attack." NCLB is a disaster, and serves only to deprofessionalize the teaching profession. To the extent that Kennedy helped shepherd it in, he deserves criticism.

However, I do agree with you, Bill needs to not mention ANY names because it will kill a campaign. Even though I agree it didn't work I would never call out other democrats on it because it only fuels a fire and it hurts our party trying to defeat the repugs.

16. I saw the clip on MSNBC this morning, and they're playing it as a slam |
|
on Kennedy. Tried to find a link, but so far, unsuccessful. Basically, he said that NCLB was pushed through by Bush and Kennedy and people in between, but unfortunately, nobody bothered to talk to the teachers before pushing it through. MSNBC was spinning it as slamming Kennedy as not listening to the teachers.
And no, he didn't mention that Hillary voted for it.
