Have fun fighting over who's candidate represents the second coming, cuz NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE |

War, energy policy, deregulation, poverty, middle class erosion, health care, corporate crime, corporate rule... Enjoy the diversion they've provided us, it's quite a spectacle.

I think at some point, one has to become content with incremental 'change'. Small things.
I realize this is a forum of idealists, and idealists are needed, but....., sometimes you have to be realistic.

If you saw it from a satellite With its green and its blue and white The beauty of the curve of the earth And its oceans below You might think it was paradise If you didn't know You might think that it's turning But it's turning so slow

Hey look, I agree we are on a right wing march back to where nature is more comfortable with (small few ruling many). I think it transcends politics if one looks at history.
We had some good decades, but it's a fluke in the course of human history.
So yes, an Obama or Clinton presidency is only delaying or slowing the inevitable by a small margin. But that's the best we have. Survive as long as we can.
For example, even with NAFTA and imposing sanctions on South Africa for trying to sell cheap AIDS drugs, etc, etc, if Clinton had been there instead of Bush, our civilization would have some more years on it.

5. So why are you even bothering to follow the political process? |
|
This country is VASTLY different than it was even 20 years ago. Most of the social change has been for the better. Bush's policies have sucked and any Republican's policies would simply continue those. I will gladly vote for whatever Democrat eventually gets the nomination because the alternative is significantly worse. I have a favorite and will vote for my favorite on Super Tuesday.
If you don't like the process disconnect and go away or run for office yourself. If you really think it is hopeless than why bother ranting about it?

We are going to wind up replacing a corrupt leader with another corrupt leader. All the while the masses bask in platitudes of hope and change when all around them everything stays the same.

Here's what will change. I'll put it in very simple language for the not so swift.
Habeas Corpus will be restored Gitmo will be closed The War and occupation will end taxes will be more equitable. SCHIP will be expanded Health Care will be tackled Climate Change will be addressed seriously Environmental Policy will be completely different Energy Policy will change Foreign Policy will be rooted in diplomacy and repairing our damaged relationships with other nations.
Here's how:
Three will be a dem majority House with at least 242 dems. That means there will be 49+ more dems than repukes. There will be a dem controlled Senate with at least 55 dems. In that environent things will happen swiftly.
Both Obama and Clinton have clearly articulated what they are going to do about these issues. They both stand a very good chance of passing an ambitious agenda.
