I love you Barack Obama, but... |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 11:34 AM by TwoSparkles
...if you're going to call a press conference, please make sure that the press conference contains information that justifies it.
The media--as were many of us--were under the impression that "breaking news" was in the works.
MSNBC cut out of it after 15 seconds. CNN wasn't even covering it after that.
You lose credibility with the media, or worse--run the risk of pissing them off.
I understand the economy is important and you want your detailed plan highlighted, but you risk losing credibility with the media, by calling a "press conference" in which you give a stump speech.
Again...love ya, but come on. :)

8. I can appreciate that... |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 11:35 AM by TwoSparkles
...but the media (and the public) were expecting something more substantial.
When you let the media down, they turn off their cameras after 15 seconds...and go straight to a riveting piece about people who double-dip potato chips--and what this means for Super Bowl parties.
...and that's not a joke. That's exactly what CNN did.
It doesn't work...and it pisses off the media.

I think Hillary's positive press perhaps or maybe because Hillarys got a big 1 hr special Monday night but i agree that was weird, why would you do that.

Plain and simple, it was a strategic error. Nothing more.

15. You missed it, because... |
|
it lasted 15 seconds...maybe even less!
Obama came on and started talking. By the time I walked into our family room to see what he was saying--he was gone!
I was an Obama precinct captain, and I will vote for him enthusiastically--but this was not a smart move.
Plus, he seemed really tired.

However, if you're going to attempt that--orchestrate an event or have a town-hall meeting.
Don't yell 'fire in a crowded theater' and then show up with a Bic lighter.
I feel bad criticizing my guy. However, I think it's a legitimate gripe, and I know his campaign is capable and creative enough. They could organize an event that would light up the universe.

Many of the questions were directed at Hillary-
Not dissing her- that was my perspective.

answered. That as been my problem with him from the start. He uses a lot of inspirational words but you don't get enough 'meat' and go away thinking just what was his opinion and how will he fix the problem

have as many questions aimed at him- and the ones that he did weren't ones which required a long answer.
I think they both did very well last night. Hillary got a bit long winded around the IWR question- but other than that it was very, very good.
peace~

25. Instead of complaining...maybe I should... |

organize an event that is newsworthy.
Obama supporters...wouldn't that be cool?
We could all meet somewhere. What point is the "center" of the US?
I'm serious.
America meet "We the People". "We are Obama!"
Obama's central message is about empowering people to change the government USING THEIR OWN POWER AND IDEAS.
If I don't like this press conference, maybe we need to organize our own press event that really demonstrates what Obama is all about.
Who's with me?
I'm dead serious.

27. What about billboard by the Day |
|
We used to have Billboard by the Day on the freeways here in Houston. You can rent the billboard for a day and they post your message. I am researching this to find out what it costs. I would like to post a "Vote for Obama" message if it is affordable. I will get some other supporters in my area to chip in. They may have something like this in other towns.
