How to tell if our candidates are lying....
Just thought this was interesting info, which can be applied to the candidates.

Seven Common Signs of Lying

1.No eye contact. Generally, if someone is lying they will not look you in the eye, at least during a certain part of the conversation. Normally, people make eye contact for at least half of a conversation, so anything less than this could be suspicious. One caveat: there are some people who will take great pains to make eye contact with you even if they're lying, simply to make you think they're not.

2.Change in voice. A change in the pitch of a person's tone, or a lot of stammering (umm, ah), or throat clearing could indicate a lie.

3.Unusual body language. If a person taps their foot a lot, fidgets with their hands, raises their shoulders, turns away from you or brings their hand to their face (to touch their chin or nose, etc.) -- in other words, if they act nervous or uncomfortable -- it could mean they're telling a lie. Also watch out for blushing (or becoming pale) and increased blinking.

4.Something sounds fishy. Making statements that contradict each other, are inconsistent or don't sound quite right are usually part of a lie.

5.Overly defensive. Sometimes when a person is lying they will become extremely defensive, refusing to answer any questions and even accusing you of lying. This may mean they have something to hide.

6.Changes subject easily. If someone is lying and you change the subject, chances are high that they'll go right along with it. A person telling the truth, however, will likely ask why you changed the subject and want to go back to it.

7.Humor or sarcasm. A guilty person will often try to change the subject using humor or sarcasm.

Of course, no one behavior can tell for sure whether or not someone is telling the truth or lying. While you should trust your instinct, if you're not sure it's best to try to get some evidence to back up your accusation. Rather than relying on a specific behavior, catching a liar in the act is best done by watching their normal behaviors. When those behaviors suddenly change, that's when a lie has likely been told.

2. .
LOL.

I agree. They're all lying, all of the time, to some degree or the other.

In fact, you don't want them to tell the truth in certain cases.

Obama probably is a Palestinian rights advocate. He used to run in those circles in Chicago. This is a no-go to the general electorate who have a cartoonish view of Arabs that is not rational. It's better he lies about it.

Hillary Clinton doesn't really support the troops in that jingoistic nationalistic manner people would like. She probably realizes the absurdity of it all. She has to pretend to be an advocate of all that bullshit though.

If you want the country to go left, it's better the politicians of the left lie. Truth is deadly in politics.

5. Only problem is, this doesn't at all apply to candidates.
These apply to people who are, rather than speaking honestly, trying to craft a narrative. The problem is candidates are always trying to craft a narrative, whether telling the truth or not. And they're far more practiced at it than most liars.

1. Candidates monitor their eye contact, among other things, constantly. When they look at the camera, it's because they're trying to build "trust." When they look down, it's because they're trying to look "thoughtful."

2. Most pitch changes are deliberate; some are a result of being caught off-guard. If Obama or Clinton sounds rough answering a question, it doesn't mean it's a lie; it might just mean they're having some difficulty with the pre-approved wording of the truth.

3. Candidates rarely do that--because they're generally nervous at the beginning of debates, or in question-and-answers, or in anything else that hasn't been rehearsed over and again. That's why they do that hand-pump-point thing, and those constant gestures: they keep their hands either moving or folded to mask the fact that their hands are shaking. You're in front of a nation, and the slightest slip of the tongue could be the difference between the Presidency and humiliation.

4. Welcome to politics.

5. If a candidate is defensive towards another, it doesn't indicate a lie. Rather, it indicates that they realize that they're in a weak spot, and it would be smart strategy to bring the other down with you.

6. Totally inapplicable.

7. Totally inapplicable. Candidates use humor in weak spots all the time, or when they sense their opponent is in a weak spot.

10. Or you could just get trent lott as a lie detector.
I saw him on a program recently and he actually said he could detect if someone was honest or something like that just by looking at them. must be some kind of fricking jeebus voodoo power or something.
