The "snub" effect on the debate |
|
Since the perceived snub of Clinton, Obama's image took a bit of a hit. It did get play on MSM so I'm sure that it did have some effect. To overcome this Obama had to be super cordial during the debate last night. Instead of drawing hard lines between himself and Sen. Clinton he had to show how friendly they were. I think that while he made good points during the debate he needed to differntiate himself more to gain ground on her in states like California where she's been ahead. If the "snub" didn't happen he could have hit her harder.

1. I think blaming it on the "snub" is indicative of a very short memory. |
|
They both took this cordial tone immediately after exit polling showed how much their South Carolina mudfest hurt them both.

3. You can be cordial but still show differences |

I think they talked about being in agreement on policy too frequently. The only time he drew a big line was on Iraq. I still think that her wriggling on this isn't fulfilling.

5. Well, when they talk policy, they have to talk agreement. They're virtually identical. They did |
|
talk about major differences in healthcare and in immigration as well.

I'm just not sure that he did enough to win over people who are undecided. I think he needed to go for a win but instead played to a draw. I am glad however that no one talked about Rezko or Walmart. No one liked watching that.

2. I disagree. He only had to prove he's equal to Hillary. |
|
She's the 'incumbent' if you will; he's the upstart young candidate - her campaign has been pushing that meme nonstop.
All Obama needed to do was show that he is presidential and can hold his own, which he did marvelously.

4. Nah. The tone of the last debate caused the change. But still, Obama OWNED her on the IWR subject.. |
|
and that's BIG...especially if we're running against McCain. He proved exactly why HE should be our nominee rather than Hillary.

8. that's always fun to watch |

all of her explanations seem flat to me. Obviously I'm biased but I can't imagine too many undecideds watching that and thinking that that made any sense.
