I would prefer we kept the Senate seat of either Obama or Clinton and pick either a Governor or a Former Senator for VP.

Why would we want to take one of our stringest voices out of the Senate? The Democrats will win in 08 if they pick carefully and with stand the Republican slur machine. I do not think taking the runner up out of the Senate is a good idea. Lets keep our strongest voices where they can do the most good!

7. Check what McCain is doing
He is assembling a "team". Both the commentariat and conservative pundits have been talking up Huckabee for VP, to bring the social right back into his fold. And I would not be surprised if he offered cabinet posts to Ron Paul ... and Mitt Romney.

This GOP Dream Team scenario, incredibly enough, was run up the flagpole last October by Charles Krauthamer in The National Review.
So no more gnashing of teeth. Republicans have 4 1/2 good presidential candidates. All five would make fine Cabinet members: Romney at Treasury, Thompson at Justice, McCain at Defense, Giuliani at Homeland Security, Huckabee at Interior. All the team needs now is to pick a captain who can beat Hillary.

The "promotion" of Huckabee to VP has been on the conservative blogs for at least a week.

I could foresee the same thing happening with Hillary if she wins the nomination, choosing Obama as her VP, and Edwards, Biden, and Richardson for cabinet positions. Each side could conceivably be running as a team. Obama might not be as inclined to that approach, but we have not really been able to discern his approach to governing as well as we have with HRC. She has always been very keen on assembling teams to solve problems. But Obama is an innovator and may find that approach resonant with the philosophical part of his campaign.

It is by no means a "sure thing," but we should keep it in mind.
