Move On's undemocratic endorsement - complete crock |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 06:00 PM by MagsDem
I received an email at 7:06 PM PST time last night with the following message:
"Right now, we have an opportunity to influence who our next president is —3.2 million MoveOn members together. When we surveyed over 200,000 MoveOn members yesterday to see if we should go forward with an endorsement process, a big majority said "yes."
My first question is when did this supposed survey take place? What were the results? Did it ever occur to them that their "endorsement" might be seen as harmful in the general election to our candidate? And what business does Move On have taking sides in a Dem primary? They claim to represent all Democrats, but apparently that isn't so.
Secondly, I had until 11 AM EST to cast my ballot. So if I didn't read my email between 7 PM PST and 8 AM PST my vote doesn't get counted right? And that, of course, would explain why less than 10% of their membership of voted, now wouldn't it?
So let's recap, shall we?
Surprise vote announced, and members given 8 hrs to vote after the announcement that there is even going to be a vote that will determine an endorsement. Annoucement made that a mere 200K of Move On's members that voted in that short period of time now represents 3.2 million Move On members.
What a complete and total crock of shit. Move On, you totally suck!

Would it be okay to hold our elections that way? I think we should be able to expect a bit more democracy from an organization that claims to be devoted to it. I would have thought it was a crock of shit no matter who they endorsed, and as a matter of fact, I don't think they have any business endorsing anyone. Which would explain this phantom survey they supposedly did of 200K members that no one on DU seems to know anything about "asking" whether they should endorse a candidate.
Bottom line, Move On just played it's members to justify an endorsement its leaders wanted to make. Complete crock of shit.

when the senate voted to condemn them for running the Patraeus ad. Hillary voted against the condemnation. Bill went on National Television defending them. Obama didn't even Vote!

9. Move on won't have enough left to make juice. Cause their |
|
membership is pissed off royally and leaving in droves. This person is correct. You did not have enough time to vote. And I know a lot of people feel more upset about that than if their choice would have won or lost. It was almost as if they made the choice and foisted it on you.
MOVEON """""""""YOU""""""""""""BETRAYED US.....

7. A vote that was announced and closed within 8 hrs? |
|
And that, my friend, is a total crock of shit. The total vote represents 6.25% of their membership. What a great turnout, right? Obama got 70% of 6.25% of the membership, and they are going to endorse that candidate using my name by claiming its 3.2 million members are behind the endorsement?
Sorry, the only word to describe that is bullshit.

I would have "unsubscribed" (can't figure out how to un-join yet, but I will) no matter who they endorsed. They shouldn't endorse anyone, they should wait until the primaries are determined. Their purpose is to unite us, not divide us, or at least it used to be. I don't want to be part of a partisan organization.

10. By the time this is over I will not be on any mailing lists |

As a Edwards support I was not a happy camper when kerry endorsed Obama, but it was his choice. However when Ted Kennedy used kerry's email list to try solicited money for Obama. They got a very "unfriendly" response from me. Needless to say i'm off that list.
i have just unsubscribed from MoveOn too. I think they should have endorsed early or just say out. They need to be the progressive voice, not picking winners and losers. It is important that all Democrats start coming together. It is time for all the endorsement to stop. It is time for the Democrats to start being positive about both candidates.
In short it's time to MoveOn and ,as Mr Edwards said "let history blaze it's path."
