L A County Supervisor Gloria Molina Endorses Hillary Clinton (significant indicator of Richardson)

She is a real big figure down there

In a major display of momentum before Super Tuesday, the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign announced today the endorsement of Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina and named her National Campaign Co-Chair.

"I admire Hillary Clinton's lifetime of work on behalf of children and families, and I trust that she will deliver results when she is President," Molina said. "Her experience in helping to create economic opportunities for working people, ensure access to affordable healthcare, and provide universal pre-kindergarten make her the best Presidential candidate for the unbelievably challenging times that we are living. I respect Hillary deeply, and I know that as President, she will fight for working families like the one I came from—and which have been invisible, if not neglected, under the Bush Administration."

Molina has earned a reputation as a fighter and a groundbreaker. She is the first Latina ever elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles City Council, and the California State Assembly. During the course of her political career, she has made it a priority to support public healthcare, create new public parks, and protect county public library services so that the children of Los Angeles County have safe spaces in which to spend time after school. Like Hillary Clinton, Molina has been a strong fighter for universal preschool. It is thanks to Molina's persistence that Los Angeles Universal Preschool is increasing preschool capacity in underserved areas so as to level the early education playing field.

An advocate for economic development and a leader in the fight against homelessness, Molina has constructed more than 1,000 new affordable housing units in her district over the past decade—which includes all of East L.A. Molina also has served as the key force behind constructing La Alameda Shopping Center, which is expected to create 700 jobs in the unincorporated Walnut Park/Florence-Firestone region of Southeast Los Angeles.

"I am deeply grateful to have Gloria's support," said Hillary Clinton. "She has been a phenomenal leader for Los Angeles County and a strong voice for working families in California."

From NBC's Mark Murray

We've reported on a few Obama endorsements today. But Clinton has picked up a pretty significant one herself: Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, a former Richardson supporter.

Earlier last month, after Richardson dropped out, we said to get to know Molina's name, that she would be a key indication of how other Richardson backers -- and the Latino vote California -- could break. So this is a pretty big coup for Team Clinton.

Looks like Richardson is coming Hillary's way.

7. got a flash for you countyr supervisors are never big news unless they get arrested

Second point do you really think that she will persuade one person who wasn't already influenced by Villaraigosa?. That was a legitimate big deal. Everyone who listens to 'gloria' already heard him.

Third by waiting so long what is she saying she didn't know enough about her but had to hear more about her positions? lol
How enthusiastic can you be about a person that you waited a year to endorse.

Fourth SEIU gets people to the polls. They will get independents and they will change some Clinton supporters.

the SEIU endorsement pales into significance when you look at the american Nurses Association of 2.9 million members that Hillarys got.

2 Can play this game.

12. well atleast this makes sense

next we will be posting about endorsements by Sheriffs.

You may be right about the nurses. I don't think so because professional associations are spread over a wide geographical area and have a wide series of issues that apply to varying degrees to their members. They are not in constant communication like a closely knit union is.

The SEIU has phone trees they will be phoned Sunday reminded Monday and driven to the polls Tuesday by people they work with.

I am sure that you can search around for some unions like SEIU that have endorsed Hillary.

You may be right about the nurses but the impact on SEIU CA on Hillary has got to be a big surprise and causing some major concern. I thought they would stay out of it after Edwards or go Hillary.

19. i don't think the times endorsement a big deal either
and I am sure that Hillary has some big unions driving people to the polls.

But I live in Socal and have heard of her twice and couldn't name my county supervisors on pain of having to listen to Cheney.

15. no what they said was Bill is having to baby sit Richardson
during the Superbowl. Coming after Obama's visit to Richardson Clinton has to shlep all the way to NM 2 days before the primary. If Richardson wanted to help he wouldn't cause a major disruption he would either endorse on Larry King or get on a plane and share a stage with Hillary.

I don't know what Richardson is going to do and CNN doesn't basically say that he is going for Hillary on anything I have seen but I thank you in advance for the link. If we are going to offer random my speculation I would say that given the fact that Richardson isn't going out of his way for the Clinton campaign is that Bill is going there to get Richardson to sit on an Obama endorsement.

In the end Bill will endorse the one that he thinks will get him back in the cabinet. Now you may be right but if your wrong and there is no endorsement how embarassing is that going to be?

16. What a joke
You're putting words in MSNBC's mouth. They never said such a thing. You are saying what you want to hear, not what you actually heard.
