DeConcini throws support to Obama

Friday, February 1, 2008 - 3:56 PM MST

Former U.S. senator Dennis DeConcini is backing Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's Democratic presidential bid.

DeConcini -- one of the state's leading Democrats -- announced Friday he was backing Obama over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Gov. Janet Napolitano and Tucson Congressman Raul Grijalva also are in Obama's camp.

Clinton has the backing of Phoenix Congressman Ed Pastor, Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox and real estate developer and Democratic advocate Jim Pederson.

Arizona holds its presidential primary Feb. 5.
