11. Wow!
50 Cent and Kanye West are the only ones selected to be GQ's "Men of the Year" who have no false modesty about it — both of the hip-hop stars justify their big egos in the mag's pages. But they also have more on their minds than just themselves. Like George W. Bush, for one. 50 thinks the president is "incredible ... a gangsta." "I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him," 50 told GQ. If the rapper's felony conviction didn't prevent him from voting, 50 said he would have voted for Bush. Meanwhile, Kanye basically called Bush a racist on national television, and has since rethought his strategy for speaking out. "When NBC edited it out on the West Coast, that was a wakeup call," West told the magazine. "It let people know how censored we still are. This is supposed to be America, but you can't get your opinion out. There's all kinds of things I want to say, but I need to pace myself, to make sure my opportunities to say these things aren't taken away too abruptly." Kanye says after giving us entertainment, his next goal is to give us "inspiration." 50's next goal? He wants to market a condom. ...

18. Ugh he is so embarrassing.
He wants to talk all this game now about politics but since he can't vote why doesn't he actively campaign to get black people to vote. With all his money he needs to stop talking and start doing positive things to help up life our community. People like him make be embarrassed to be black at times.

Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 07:34 PM by NJObamaWoman
HRC needs to throw that endorsement right back at Mr. Curtis. He is a vile human being. Why is anyone listening to this thug? Wasn't he suppose to fall back after Kanye kicked his ass in record sells. Please Curtis is not needed in our community. Its people like him that continue to promote thuggish ways that keep black boys and men behind bars.

23. No darling its not all his fault. I blame most of our community even myself
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 07:47 PM by NJObamaWoman
But I try to do things everyday to promote and uplift my black community. This is why I received my B.A. and Masters degree all without ANY government help (I worked & my family helped me out)and my job works specifically with teens in which I promote literacy. As a librarian I continue to fight the notion that READING & EDUCATION is a white thing *shakes head*. When is Mr. Curtis going to speak out about black men being thugs and encourage them to vote. I just have a problem with people like Mr. Curtis because of his degrading of women, and his continued thuggish act that does more to hurt our community than uplift. By no means he is not the only one I have a problem with.

25. Thanks. At the age of 23 (a year ago) I accomplished all of this all without a father.
My mom was a single parent who never received child support. One thing that really made me support Obama was during a debate he talked about how black parents, especially fathers need to step up their game. That black children are having a hard time because their parents are not involved in their lives. People like Mr. Curtis disgust me because he continues to promote thuggish ways that automatically becomes associated with black boys & men. I want to see this cycle broken before anymore of our children become infected by this mentality.

26. Curtis just capitalizes on what sells. He's an opportunistic dirtbag.
He profits off of encouraging brothers and sisters to follow the thug lifestyle. He's no better than the scumbag corporate bosses who encourage him.

I was hoping he would keep his word and retire from music once Kanye sold more albums. He's such a fake thug 2Pac wannabe.
