Are the swift boat veterans really up to it again?
I had a weird conversation with my dad today. He is a proud uberconservative that donated big to swift boat veterans when kerry ran. Ummm...yah...I'm not proud.

Today, he told me that the SBV were at work again and this time, they mobilized themselves as a movement to get independent voters who lean republican to vote for Obama in the primaries because they believe he can be defeated over Hillary. Don't flame me. It's not my thought, it's his. At that time though, they didn't think that McCain was going to be the frontrunner. They were looking to Huckabee to get the nod.

Well...so now my dad is pissed because he says Obama will win the primaries now because of this and there is no way in hell he can vote for McCain. He hates McCain MORE than he hates Hillary, which baffles me. He said that he will vote for the democratic candidate if McCain is the one....and when I joked that Ann Coulter said she would campaign for Hillary, he said "I will too" if McCain is elected.

He is so angry that his party has screwed him. I'm happy...I'll be satisfied with either Obama or Clinton.

1. no offense to your dad
...but the SBV will march to some madman when the time comes. It WILL NOT be Hillary or any other Democrat. Not if they're still breathing.

2. It's weird to hear stuff like this
I almost wonder if they are feigning this hatred as it seems so out-of-character for Republicans. I'm not going to underestimate McCain, that's for sure.

5. who knows
It's such a strange thing. My dad initially was really lobbying for me to support Obama....that was a few weeks ago....I was shocked by this about face and I have no idea what to believe. He was on a huge rant.....furious about McCain. This is something that I don't understand because my dad is a Vietnam Vet. It's so weird, because he was so anti-Kerry and accused Kerry of having fake purple hearts, etc....I would think he would rally behind those who have shared his experiences.

3. There are a lot of vets who hate McCain
Families of MIA's felt he was insensitive to their efforts to find out if their loved ones were still being held in Vietnamese prisons, and he took his time supporting Agent Orange victims.

4. The fact that anyone is surprised
that the SBFV is at it again, is beyond belief.

At least with the Democrats fielding two CORPORATE candidates, they don't have to worry about the Chamber of Commerce.
