Obama SLAMS McCain
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 10:44 PM by bernicewilliams
Ouch. If this were boxing, I don't think McCain would stand back up before the count of 10.

“There was a time when some Republicans like John McCain agreed with me,” Obama said, of his calls to roll back Bush’s temporary tax cuts for the richest Americans instead of making those tax cuts permanent.

“There was a time when Senator McCain courageously defied the fiscal madness of massive tax cuts for the wealthy in the midst of a costly war,” Obama said. “That was before he started running for the Republican nomination and fell in line.”

It happened today in New Mexico.

This is the real war I want to see.

Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 12:55 AM by jberryhill
...I'll see if I can pull it out of the trash and scan it.

I was a little disappointed.

They are one-sheet glossy two-page folded flyers.

(got it in Delaware, btw, where Obama is appearing Sunday. I can't remember the last time a candidate came to Delaware - other than Joe Biden, of course, who lives here)

37. No, but it's got the seal of a printers' union local on it

Underneath the "Paid for" message, it has this:

Here's the bulk mailing data:

and here's one of the pages:

Now, you can also check my name after the next round of donation reporting, and you can verify that I am an Obama donor. I didn't think I was paying for crap like this.

But it's a campaign mailer. They're both going to send them. Donors are going to pay for them.

40. You are playing right into the Karl Rove hand. Why don't you stick to issues
and stop this derisive bullschite? It is exactly what Karl wants. In fact there are trolls here just trying to stir up trouble amongst us. If you want to talk about issues fine. It would be nothing for Karl and company to fake these. Stick to issues please. And what is this calling me "dude". That is so last week.

41. I'll choose what pronouns I like

First you asked for a link that the flyers were sent.

Then you denied they were sent by the Obama campaign.

"Trolls here" didn't print and mail me that flyer, and neither did Karl Rove.

As I mentioned, I'm an Obama donor, and I'm disappointed to see my money being spent that way.

42. I am currently supporting Obama also. And I am not trying to defend him here. And I
didn't deny that his organization sent the fliers. What I am saying is that we all need to be suspicious of these "tricks". I will guarantee that Karl Rove and his "workers" are doing their best to disrupt the Democratic party and DU. And they have enough money at their disposal to do some significant damage. I see numerous posters in here that never address issues but only exude hate.

As far as calling me "dude", I don't care at all. Hell I have been called far worse. I was just giving you some schite trying to lighten it up in here.

3. Here's what Obama is doing, and it's very smart--he's debunking the maverick myth.
Hitting McCain on what will be his general-election Indie-stealing strength, and also tarnishing the "straight-talk" halo by illuminating his flip-flop. How...Rovian. I love it!!!

5. Way To Go
That's the way to do it - attack the Maverick image McCain wants voters to buy and show him as a sell out. No nasty attacks on his record in Vietnam or on his family - just tear away the thin veneer of what is McCain's greatest strength.

:woohoo:

12. Talk radio is in meltdown mode over McCain!
The Laura Ingraham show today, for instance, spent the last hour just constantly, desperately begging voters to choose Romney instead.

A caller to the Michael Medved show said he was terrified that McCain couldn't pull his own weight in a debate with Obama, that he would seem like a whispering wheezing geezer, and Medved -- McCain's biggest and perhaps only talk radio cheerleader -- replied, "You know what? I agree with you. I have the same concern, and no snappy comeback for it. It's a problem."

I don't think McCain will be nearly as easy to beat as some conservatives seem to think -- McCain has a history of profound sacrifice for this country that is emotionally moving, no matter what party you're in. He's cranky, he's old, he's got a temper like a stuck bull, but if anyone can convince the country to stay in Iraq, it'll be this man who suffered through year after year of excruciating physical torture because he believed in his country.

I do think Obama is our best shot at countering him. I think Hillary's IWR vote leaves her morally compromised, and actually amplifies the frame of McCain's story. And of course, she's one of the only forces on earth that can compel rock-ribbed conservatives to the polls to vote for a man many of them truly loathe.

If you think their nominee is going to be McCain, our best shot is with Obama.

33. I wouldn't be too cocky about the prospect of debating against McCain
McCain's handlers will choose the debates carefully. The moderators will be Republican-friendly, and they will know enough to keep the debates slow-paced, and give Obama/Clinton the first shot at any difficult questions. This will give McCain plenty of time to listen to advice through his ear piece, should he choose to wear one. Miraculously, many questions will easily answered soundbite-style by McCain as through they were rehearsed.

Clinton gets in trouble because he says things in a cryptic way that may be, and many times are, misinterpreted, even if he meant good.
