My point was that we should disagree in a more academic way. I wrote below, what ever happened to the fine art of debate and discussion? Instead we get all these rabid hit-and-run threads that bring down the collective IQ of this board.

These ranting screeds about how much the poster hates so-and-so and will refuse to vote for him or her -- are COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE to getting us a new AG or SOS, or new heads for the Dept of Labor, Interior, Justice, or for FEMA, or more qualified federal judges.

THAT is where the real change will happen in this country - in the courts and in the departments and ministries! THAT kind of change will have impact.

I truly believe that ANY of the Dem candidates would have and will get us better cabinet heads and appointees. I am convinced 10000% percent that THAT is where the change for this country will happen - with those positions. And I am also convinced that the new wave of Repuke appointees would be our undoing.

have the right to vote for John Edwards and that's exactly what I plan to do. It's hard for me to choose which bought and paid for corporatist candidate to vote for. I'm hoping my Edwards vote will have an impact and change the agenda of Hillary and Obama!

13. My point is that people can disagree without tearing each

other apart. We need some civility and peace on this board. Imagine DU being a more intellectual, thoughtful place? That's my point. I do not even recognize this place anymore. We can all disagree, but what happened to the fine art of discussion and debate? And why is there this pressure to always march in lock-step? We've been infested. I think you would concede that there are some certain posters who are posting every 3 seconds, and their angry screeds are so asinine they bring down the collective IQ of this communinity. They also post speculations that are sketchy and without merit, much less sourced links.

Then we also have certain posters who very publicly pronounce they won't vote for the nominee if it is so-and-so. I will vote for the nominee regardless - this is DEMOCRATIC underground. I won't be happy about it, but I will certainly do it, because my real hatred is for the ideals of the conservatives and particularly of the Republicans.

The REAL governing happens in the various cabinet positions and department heads. Can you imagine the turns the US would take if we had a qualified SOS, a qualified FEMA head, a qualified AG, a qualified head of the Dept of the Interior, Dept of Labor, proper federal judges?

THAT is why we need a Dem, ANY Dem, over the Repub. Even the most vitriolic anti-candidate person on this board can admit that the two remaining candidates will select FAR MORE QUALIFIED APPOINTEES THAN THE REPUKE. That is the only thing that will undo the Bush** damage.

Besides, my main point was that it's clear that the two remaining will TEAM UP and will bring in some of the others who dropped out into their cabinet or something else, and then all the "I HATE so-and-so" posters will be left having to justify their new-found support.
