Whoever wins the nomination can choose to seat the FL and MI delegates |
|
So if Hillary wins the nomination, which I'm pretty certain she will, she will seat the FL and MI delegates.
Good job, Hillary.

1. Actually the convention will vote to seat them or not |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 10:41 AM by MaineDem
The nominee may have influence but he or she doesn't get to decide.
The Convention Credentials Committee determines and resolves any outstanding questions concerning the seating of delegates and alternates to the Convention. The Committee’s recommendations are presented in a report voted on by the delegates to the Convention. Since the Credentials Committee’s report affects the seating of delegates, it is considered as the first item of business on the first day (Monday) of the Convention. The Credentials Committee is expected to meet sometime in July or August prior to the Convention.

2. Obama would likely seat them as well. |
|
It won't be close enough to effect the outcome, regardless of the winner.

That is the nightmare scenario. Obama wins the Nomination if they are not seated and Hillary wins it if they are seated.

11. It would have to be very close. |
|
Clinton would gain only 114 total from both states.
It won't be that close.

Trust me.

Why do people keep saying that as if it matters?
They will NOT have any role in the choosing of the nominee, hence we are still disenfranchised. And I will say again, the delegates will only be seated if they do not hurt the front runner.

6. You do realize that you have to WIN the nomination BEFORE you can seat the delegates right? |
|
Those are the rules.
The smoke and mirrors show by the clinton campaign on this issue really means nothing.
She has to win first.
My guess is that whoever wins will seat the delegates.
The problem with the Michigan and florida Democratic parties moving up their primaries and the dnc decision was that Michigan and Florida votes would not count toward choosing a nominee. That is still the case and will remain the case.

10. They will be seated, either way. They only give an additional 114 delegates |
|
to Clinton.
It will not be that close when we get to the convention. This is a meaningless argument.
They will be seated.

12. But even if seated those delegates won't be involved in selecting the nominee, right? |
|
Because the nominee would call for them to be seated after the vote? So its basically a symbolic gesture if I understand it correctly.
I understand the reason why the DNC did what they did, but silencing the voices of millions of voters doesn't seem right either.

13. No, the vote to seat the delegations will be the first order of business at convention |
|
Days before the vote for president.
