Rockford Register Star: "Rezko is rapidly gaining national name recognition"
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 12:39 PM by bidenista
Anyone else queasy at the thought of a GE campaign which consists of Repubs shouting "Rezko Rezko Rezko" while Dems respond with talk of stuck voting buttons and their candidate's self-proclaimed "bone-headedness"?

Rezko is rapidly gaining national name recognition

Tony Rezko has long been ubiquitous in Illinois politics. Now folks across America are getting to know him, too.

The native of Syria made a fortune in a Chicago real estate and other ventures, including fast food. Along the way, he ingratiated himself with political heavyweights from Gov. Rod Blagojevich to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.

Now he is facing federal corruption charges and scheduled to begin trial March 3. The feds allege he tried to use his clout to extort kickbacks from firms seeking business with the state. Rezko’s world, and all his great plans for it, have been reduced to a cell in a jail next to Chicago’s federal courthouse. But his aura grows....

Cmon, Rezco will never become much of an issue. I can hear pukes yelling it and everybody just asking who? As far as scandals go it's just a little too minor and really really boring.

On edit: Even though everyone knows its bullshit, I think.. who killed Vince Foster would be just as potent if not more so for the swiftboating assholes that will come out from under their rocks no matter who wins the nomination.

It may have been a mistake, but Obama is smart enough to have known that anything that even looks vaguely like it could be a quid pro quo sweetheart land deal should be avoided like the plague, ESPECIALLY for someone with political aspirations.

We may not have heard a lot about it YET, but keep in mind that at one time the Watergate was considered just an apartment building.

*edited to add: I'm certainly not comparing the house thing with Watergate; just saying, we haven't heard the last of this yet, and if Obama is the nominee, expect wall-to-wall coverage from the MSM.
