Clinton: "Democrats Who Voted Against Iraq War Are Unpatriotic Or Stupid" |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 01:37 PM by MannyGoldstein
Obviously she didn't say those exact words. But, by continuing to maintain that her vote was correct, isn't she stating this by her actions instead of her words? Isn't she saying that the Democrats who voted against the war (and most Democrats did vote against the war), made the wrong choice?
C'mon folks... wake up and smell the cordite.

2. No, she's saying they didn't have the experience needed to make the right choice |
|
Hillary explaining her vote on the floor: "And perhaps my decision is influenced by my eight years of experience on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue in the White House watching my husband deal with serious challenges to our nation. I want this President, or any future President, to be in the strongest possible position to lead our country in the United Nations or in war." http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

6. I can't vote for anyone who doesn't speak only of peace. I can't vote for |
|
anyone who uses war words for votes. I can't vote for anyone who has ties to those who profit from war.
Yes, original poster, you are allowed to flip it and examine it from the other way. I think it's a good idea to look at that.
I guess people call it having different opinions. But, I'll bet she would never select Sen Feingold or Rep Kucinich or a Berrigan for VP if elected.
Someone should ask them what type of idealist they would select for VP.
Go poster. Examine the flip side.

http://www.mydd.com/story/2007/3/20/14129/0524WHAT YOU MIGHT HEAR BLITZER: "Had you been in the Senate when they had a vote on whether to give the president the authority to go to war, how would you have voted?" OBAMA: "You know, I didn't have the information that was available to senators."
WHAT OBAMA SAID
BLITZER: Had you been in the Senate when they had a vote on whether to give the president the authority to go to war, how would you have voted?
OBAMA: You know, I didn't have the information that was available to senators. I know that, as somebody who was thinking about a U.S. Senate race, I think it was a mistake, and I think I would have voted no.
BLITZER: You would have voted no at the time?
OBAMA: That's correct.
BLITZER: Kerry, of course, and Edwards both voted yes.
OBAMA: But keep in mind, I think this is a tough question and a tough call. What I do think is that if you're going to make these tough calls, you have to do so in a transparent way, in an honest way, talk to the American people, trust their judgment.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HEAR
"I'm not privy to Senate intelligence reports," Mr. Obama said. "What would I have done? I don't know. What I know is that from my vantage point the case was not made."
WHAT OBAMA SAID
"He opposed the war in Iraq, and spoke against it during a rally in Chicago in the fall of 2002. He said then that he saw no evidence that Iraq had unconventional weapons that posed a threat, or of any link between SaddamHussein and Al Qaeda.
"In a recent interview, he declined to criticize Senators Kerry and Edwards for voting to authorize the war, although he said he would not have done the same based on the information he had at the time.
"'But, I'm not privy to Senate intelligence reports,' Mr. Obama said. 'What would I have done? I don't know. What I know is that from my vantage point the case was not made.'
"But Mr. Obama said he did fault Democratic leaders for failing to ask enough tough questions of the Bush administration to force it to prove its case for war. 'What I don't think was appropriate was the degree to which Congress gave the president a pass on this,' he said." 7/26/2004]

Which we saw what happens there when Kerry was labeled for flip-flopping.

14. Getting wierd around here... |
|
Sometimes I have to wonder if a virus has escaped the internet, and affected the neural pathways of the Clinton haters. Sad that they feel compelled to act in such a desperate manner, and won't allow their candidate, or themselves rely on what's real, and factual. If she is as evil as some portray, why wouldn't that be apparent without resorting to lies, and spin? No answer necessary, I already know. Thanks. quickesst

Ted Kennedy, for one. When Bill Clinton started calling Obama's anti-war position a "fairy tale," Ted took it personally. And so did I.
Remember when Bill was running around telling everyone he was ALWAYS against the war? Because that's certainly not the way I remembered it, back in those awful days.

22. The IWR could have been a good policy.. |
|
Things were moving along quite nicely in Iraq until Bush actually invaded.
I believe the threat of use of force was key to making Saddam comply. Bush not only murdered hundreds of thousands unnecessarily in his invasion, but made similar threats of force in the future less meaningful in the decision.
