May I suggest we all do the same. This invasion of flame baiter's is pretty bad. Not saying all newbies are flame baiter's. Just keep in mind most true newbies do not begin off with flame bait. Then, there are the ones that have NO profile at all. just sayin'

3. One also has to be suspicious of people...
who've been here a week and have a total post count of over 1k...(of whom I've seen a few)

5. Yes, I've recently started doing that.
Especially if a post seems to be a flame, and by that I mean a true flame, or a post that's written only to get attention. It doesn't mean someone who I simply disagree with.

The danger here is, as the OP said, not all newbies are flame baiters. We want to welcome new people who have something to contribute; if we don't, these boards will become stagnant.

8. Not sure post count is a real indicator... One poster with over 1000 has been here a week.

Dates might matter more. But some people, including myself have fairly high post counts in just a few months because we have more time to be here. And people can make stuff up for a profile.

9. I usually go by length of time on DU.

I've been with DU since its inception, and just recently reached 1,000. This is also my home page.

Usually, by the time I'm ready to respond to a post, someone has posted what I would have said. LOL!

Peace:thumbsup:
