Who should Obama pick as VP? |
|
Look, I know the Clintonites are still foaming at the mouth muttering something about strawberries & the messboys, but the major polls all look to be shifting SIGNIFICANTLY to Barak Obama. If the trends continue, he may end up with enough delegates to clinch the nomination well in advance of the convention.
Then what?
Who should he pick? One of the Democrat presidential runners-up? A governor? A current or former legislator? A former general (Wes Clark)?
Let's here it ...
As for me, I'd have to say Dennis Kucinich, the man I supported at the outset of the campaign, and a person that I still hope can be President someday.

14. Would Richardson risk upsetting the Clintons? |
|
I always thought of him as being tied pretty close to the Clintons. He has been 100% right about Iraq though, and I would welcome anyone that would help expedite our immediate withdrawal from Iraq.

9. The perfect choice would be Jim Webb |
|
poetic, anti-war, Republicans relate to him, he was sort of the forebearer to Obama in that.
but we'd hate to lose him in the Senate.
That ticket would win in a landslide. And Jim Webb would make it his personal task to extractate us from the Iraq war.

12. Doesn't VA have a Dem governor? |
|
And Webb would still get to preside over the Senate (even cast tie-breakers).
Nothing would make the Chickenhawks heads explode like having to debate an anti-war MARINE! That would be sweet...

Hillary is the establishment candidate. They always win. Senator Obama has a better chance to upset this historical trend than any other candidate in modern times. But he remains the underdog. Let those of us that support his campaign focus on the nomination. He is not yet to the mountaintop.

Edwards and Obama have a similar message and together it would be the most charismatic ticket Democrats have had in decades. They could win a couple Southern states.
Picking a Udall would help in at least two mountain west states where the family is popular. That strategy would largely cede the Southeast and make a play for three or four western states. Environmentalists would love it too.

He may want someone with more experience, especially foreign policy experience, but I think he should just assume that Republicans are going to win the experience argument and go for someone who brings something else to the ticket.

21. All the Denver delegates ain't done bein' delineated. |
|
If Obama is our nominee, he has a deep bench at the ready.
He could choose someone you like or someone you don't like, someone I like or someone I don't like.
My hunch is that among those who might be effective for him -- likeability aside -- might be:
Bill Bradley Janet Napolitano Tom Daschle Tom Harkin Kathleen Sebelius Bill Richardson General Clark
and others.
