Why does Obama do so well with Hollywood stars, college professors, news editors and college kids? |
|
While Clinton does well with working people, poor people, blue collar people, Latinos?

for fuck's sake, I don't support Clinton but I'd never insult her by comparing her to that creature. Pathetic post, Al.

10. It wasn't meant as a slight. |

Cali, I think your candidate appeals to the province of the far-left elite who typically don't show up at the polls. It's therefore not in our best interest -- as a country, as a party -- to nominate Barack. Your thoughts.

22. There's evidence that you are flat wrong, Al |
|
In 5 states he's appealed to a broad range of voters. He appeals to voters here in the very downscale white farming and logging communities where I live. I guarantee that he'll win in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom which is woodchuck central. He appealed in Iowa and brought in huge numbers of young people and indies. He'll dramatically increase the turnout of African Americans, and they're a sizable chunk of dem voters.
On the other hand, your candidate is bar none, the most polarizing figure in politics. She has high negatives and indies and repukes won't vote for her. African Americans may well not turn out for her, and young people won't either. She's riskier electorally, but anyone with any brains whatsoever realizes that both of them can beat McCain or Romney.

13. The first group have more time to pay attention. |
|
This isn't an insult but the people who spend the most time paying attention to politics are the ones supporting Obama. Hillary used to have more support among those groups too until they got to know Obama better.
When working class people eventually get to know Obama better then Hillary's support will drop among them too. That's what we saw happen in the early primary states. The more people get to know Obama, the better he does. That has been the constant trend for the past year. Hillary can only coast on her last name for so long.

17. Obama is definitely the trendy candidate out on the cocktail circuit. |

Clinton appeals to the traditional base of the party because her message comes across as sincere and authentic, and people know she can be trusted.

Obama appeals to a broad range of Americans---because he many Americans realize that this policies, ideas, experience and ability to inspire--are exactly what this country needs at this time.
