I just don't see how John McCain can win as the War candidate |
|
I don't care what the polls say now. Both Obama and Hillary will beat him. It's over for McCain.

1. I tend to agree, but I expect the "Straight Talk" to take a hard left |
|
for the general. He'll still be pro-war, but it'll be softened.

2. He won't. And Big Money knows he won't. |
|
Everyone knows the Democrats are winning this election except, it seems, the Democrats.

3. His recent comments on the war in Iraq are good fodder for |
|
our Dem. campaign.
Also, just the visual of a one on one debate with him vs Clinton or Obama will be enough for the Republicans to lose, imo.

4. I agree - except in the event of another attack on the US where everyone's mind goes out the window |
|
which I hope never happens.

5. He can't. Obama: 'If you want war then McCain's |
|
your man.' 60% opposed to war. End of a very simple campaign.

6. Gravel, DK and Edwards would beat him too. Been saying this for ages now. |

7. Given the choice between |
|
someone who's committed to the war, and someone who's not outright anti-war bring them home now, there's a good chance that Americans will choose the one who's committed to the war.
McCain's going to be hard to beat if he's the nominee.

The American people will be looking for someone very different from Bush.

9. McCain would beat Hillary but not Obama... |
|
Hillary's sky-high negatives (right out the gate) will hurt her with independents, and her pro-war stances will undercut her support with true progressives.
Obama would unite the base, bring out young voters, and energize the African-American community like no candidate in history. I could see a possible landslide, especially since the hard-core right wing freaks aren't very jazzed about McCain (but would come out of hiding to vote against Hillary).
Bottom line, Obama is simply a LIKEABLE person. Hillary not so much. Don't ever underestimate the significance of that.
