It dawned on me that people like to just make shit up....
I've seen countless threads here wherein the OP makes a claim that is demonstrably false. Not only is it demonstrably false, it's EASY to demonstrate that it's false.

Does anyone think he's doing his candidate a favor by posting stuff like this? I mean, how hard is it to determine Obama's campaign schedule, or whether he has children? Or what Clinton's vote on Alito and Roberts, or Cheney's energy plan, were?

There are literally hundreds of examples.

Why? Are some people just so inept they can't use Google? Or are they hoping that the greater majority of people will just read the headline and accept it as truth without reading the debunking that occurs within the first five responses?

I honestly don't understand why someone would want to embarrass themselves by posting something that is obviously untrue. I also don't understand why it's OK to do so.

5. Hillary may become our party's nominee
If Hillary is not the nominee, she will be in the Senate. President Obama will need her to work WITH him to get his legislation passed.

Therefore, I think snarky comments should be kept to a minimum.

Did I tell you about my life-long Republican grandmother's girlfriend's maid who's voting for Obama? She told her bible study buddies, "I've lived all my life in despair, but OBAMA gives me belief in hope and change!!"

Or what about my encounter at the gas station with a middle-aged Nascar dad with Bush/Cheney 04 and "Jesus is my copilot" bumperstickers who griped about gas prices as he yelled at others at the gas pumps, "I swear, Hillary can get us out of this mess!"

24. I saw one for the record books today
"Asking" an innocent question about Clinton, but making it appear as if there was something nefarious behind it.

The question was who benefits from an ad she ran in Arkansas. Who got paid to make the ad? Where'd the money go? It provided no answers - just "the question".

Of course, the same exact question would be JUST as relevant when asked about any other candidate. It had NOTHING to do with Clinton. There's zero evidence that there's ANYTHING wrong with producing and airing ads. But the question alone implied there was something suspicious. It was despicable.

27. Yeah, those "innocent questions"...
Also those "I'm having a debate with Republicans at work. Can you answer this question for me?" Then they proceed to "innocently" post the most derogatory shit they can about the candidate, followed by "Is this true??//??"

Easy to spot, they are.

15. Yeah, I know what you mean...
Your 4th paragraph explains it.

I've been calling it a meme-thread. It's like those threads that go "I received this email from an acquaintance. Is it true?" Then it shows the entire email content, often even with a snopes link (which usually debunks it straight away). Obviously, it seems to me, it is a thread simply to put the meme out there, hoping that at least some people (not necessarily even a majority) read the damn message, such as, "Barack is a Muslim" or some such, without reading further to see the debunking. Then, the hope is, that some idiot will think it is true and then spread the meme, like calling in to C-Span spouting the same crap.

It's devious and it is how memes are spread.

As for embarrassing themselves, they could care less, they're anonymous.

Somebody will post "Hillary supports serving puppy meat to the poor"

Somebody asks for a link. They provide a link to her website. Someone asks... "um.. where on the site does it say that?" and then they say "I'm not gonna do your work for you!"

Too much lying, smears, innuendo, baseless accusations... it used to be better.
