Obama showing strength in rural areas of Minnesota too |
|
A.P. 2/2/08 Red Deer Lake, Minnesota
Red Deer Lake a rural farming and light industry town in Southwestern Minnesota is showing a surprising amount of support for Barack Obama's bid to become the Democratic Party's nominee in the 2008 Presidential election. The area around Red Deer Lake, MN is best known for production of popcorn and Duroc hogs. The light industry in Red Deer used to be famous for the production of "Lawn Darts," (AKA Jarts) but it now known for the production of promotional coasters used in marketing by beer companies.
Now Red Deer Lake, MN is getting recognition for the support the town is showing for Barack Obama. Hog farmer Sven Steverson said that he liked Mr. Obama's speaking style and that he seemed "To be above that nasty mess about race. Besides it has been 28 years that a Clinton or a Bush has been on the national ticket and it just seems un-American to keep the same families in power year after year."
The University of Minnesota at Duluth did a study of the town's 1,233 registered Democrats and found that well over 82% either strongly supported Sen. Obama or supported Sen. Obama. What this means to Red Deer Lake's Prairie County and to the rest of the state is still an unknown.

3. Because When Push Comes to Shove |
|
a lot of people can't bring themselves to vote for a candidate with the baggage Hillary brings in her wake.
They'd rather vote for someone wet behind the ears than a known problem.
