E Pluribus Unum - or - I don't want a candidate that stands just for me. |
|
It's a great, contentious and vigorous primary season. And it's not even March! You've got to love it or hate it, or take it in stride.
I don't want a candidate that stands just for me. Just for me? Geez, how could I, knowing what I know...Ha.
The best candidate speaks to the big picture, understands that picture and can likewise take one step out of the 'me' factor. Do they have to speak to each and every concern I feel is important in a President? No. That's understood.
Most of us have work experiences where the give and take of policy didn't quite cover all our personal bases. Yet, given a voice, we were able to be a part of the process.
Most of us probably have family or social experiences that parallel that.
In many of those instances I've appreciated a leader - for lack of a better word - who took all points into account, mine own included, and made decisions based on the big picture.
Not always my picture. I can live with that.
I don't want a candidate that stands just for me. I want a candidate that stands for us, you and me.
It's a subtle difference, perhaps, but one both our Democratic candidates made this week.
