Question for anyone who has been to an Obama rally |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 08:25 PM by jackson_dem
How early do you have to get there before the gates open to get a chance to be up front (edited note: this is an outdoor rally)? He will be in my state tomorrow and record turnout is expected. I don't want to be buried in the back.

1. Go early!!! HOURS early! You have lines and security to get through. |
|
Also, volunteers get special passes. So if you're a volunteer make sure you bring your pass.

2. What? Your still at home? Go go go!! |
|
From what I've seen 2 hrs prior to the door opening is necessary if you want a good seat.
But the good news is that, it does not matter where you sit, the message is the same.

3. We got to the rally here in Minneapolis 2 hours early and |
|
Our seats were good, but not great.
We got there at 11:30, the doors opened at 1:30 and he didn't speak until 4:30 ish.
It was a very polite but tightly packed crowd of 20,000+.

4. Depends. I went to an outdoor public rally, showed up late and shook Obama's hand. |
|
If it's indoors and there is seating, you'll probably want to be very early.

5. I showed up at this morning's rally w/ John Kerry 15 minutes early |
|
and was pretty much in the last 2/3rd to get seated. I'd recommend getting there early.

7. You're going man! Sweet! Glad to hear it! Yeah, you've got to go early and do what you can. |
|
I went in NYC, packed in three hours early and ended up seeing him from the street. That was in September, and it was worth every minute. I went unconvinced, and left with the best feeling I've ever had about a politician. It was worth every minute.
Enjoy!

8. Thanks everyone. One more question |
|
Should I bring my copy of his book? Is there any chance he would sign it after the event?

There will be so many people and so much security, I don't think you'll get a chance to talk to him. :( They whisked him away right after his speech both times I saw him. He does give great speeches, though. It's definitely worth going, even if your not voting for him this time around. Have fun!

|
it's still unlikely that he'll get much time. But if you don't bring it, you will regret it!
