Reyes praises Clinton for her understanding of the border

Sen. Hillary Clinton has an understanding of and willingness to learn about border issues that makes her the best candidate to be president of the United States, said El Paso's Rep. Silvestre Reyes.

"Sen. Clinton has, from my perspective, the best opportunity to represent the issues on the border that are so important to us," the Texas Democrat said on Friday. "She has been to the border a number of times."

State Sen. Eliot Shapleigh, D-El Paso, also has thrown his support to Clinton.

Clinton has "broad, deep and historic support in El Paso," Shapleigh said.

"She has the courage and experience and tenacity to deal with the issues of the day," he said.

Clinton is expected to be in El Paso Feb. 11 or shortly thereafter for a rally, Reyes said....

She was also very compassionate and understanding of the undocumented worker issue.
